I'm at a point in my life where I can't tell if someone is trolling or being genuinely serious. Quasi is sick, I like their 8.5+ shapes and any JJ footage is appreciated.

We need more of those blue balls stickers.

I find it weird that someone is 30 first skate movie they saw is yeah right
I’m 37 and the first movie i saw was future primitive and bones brigade video show.

I was born in 1989. Yeah right came out when I was only 12 or 13.... Before that I only saw videos in like Tony Hawk games butI was already reading Thrasher, Skateboard mag and Transworld. I didnt actually watch a real video until I finally convinced my mom to buy my first real board (which ironically was a Real deck haha). Back then there really wasnt internet (or at least accessible internet and def no videos online) so yeah....

I do remember seeing Baker 3 online though when it came out. Thinking about it now, there really were a lot of good videos back then. Skate More, Roll Forever, New Blood, What If?, Slaughterhouse, The DC video just to name a few that I had on repeat almost daily. I didnt start watching older videos like Mouse until I got a little older. I can see how they influenced brands like Quasi.

WHat if and the dc video were the shit. I would type in skateboarding in limewire and download whatever videos came up. Pretty sure all i got was 411-911 (great video for someone just starting) and the old flip video. I think it was sorry.

First mag I saw was the tws issue with wenning at the love gap or something...

but yeah

Quasi is the shit and youre crazy if you dont see why people like that shit. Colorful ass wallbanger graphics with great shapes, and a rad team to back it

After all these responses, I can def see why. Thats why I came here. To get put on. It was an honest question. And yeah man, I have a ton of my old transworlds still. Boxes of them back to like 2000. Corey Duffel was looking for his old TWS cover on IG and I even had that one. Never selling this collection though. Might post a few of them online. It would be rad if someone archived them.

A friend of mine said it well. "Quasi is the Honda of skateboarding". If you go your local shop (or website) and they don't have exactly what you want, you can just get a Quasi. I guess that's what you do when you go car shopping.

Personally, I can't get into them as they have always seemed directionless to me. But that's just me and I know I am the minority.

Shapes never worked for me but I flip my board a lot. Any flip trick with a spin never felt consistent - tried a couple boards so wasn't just a fluke. Couldn't control the board with my toes well either, like the board always wanted to stay flat which made it really hard to lock into precise grinds. I guess people who only do wallies and no complys dont mind. They certainly had a ton of pop with the big scoopy nose and tail. Just another trendy brand trying to be different with unconventional shapes.

That shape's not exactly new though is it? I mean from around Mindfield to when AWS shit the bed that shape was pretty standard on their 8"+ decks. Chad Bowers and Dill have both said they used the same PS Stix mold as the last era of Workshop decks. Totally cool if you're not into the shape or graphics but all things in fairness, square nose and short tail isn't new and that shape has been pretty consistently used by a bunch of brands for 4+ years now. Don't know if I'd call that flash in the pan trendy or an unconventional shape.

I felt that with the JJ shape, but realized the Bledsoe shape is literally perfect IMO

hey dude I’m riding the new al davis quasi board rn gotta say i Love it even tho the tails a lil flat it’s for some reason fitting to me.
Personally i Love the quasi video, the small no-filler part from JJ was satisfying
i would say it’s better than watching some boring element, berrics cliche, or even worse ty evans NWO for skateboarding i can’t watch a single clip from his videos the production is too fuckin much it’s not even skateboarding anymore, however i understand the style is not for everybody and this goes for all styles, quasi is very much appreciated by many! same goes for all of that element, kotr, evan smith, 50 kink’d stair shit i can’t stand either! love u ^_^

clearly i got off topic but i think it’s refreshing for most to see something different as well as the coverage for east coast skateboarding, nobody wants to see Hollywood high 16’s anymore u kno?

I figured it out. The music is just boring as hell. They also dont seem to market their riders very well. I was watching a gilbert crockett part and didnt even know. Im also riding his pro model but his name isnt on it?? I mean, I wasnt really a huge fan of his when he was on Black Box but still....

I live in NYC but I was born/raised in the lower east side. The real LES. NYC isnt some hipster paradise for me. So anything remotely Jason Dill-ish just turns me off. I do fuck with Supreme though because I remember when they were (and still are, to an extent) one of the few core shops in Manhattan that a kid from the hood could roll up to and feel comfortable. Believe it or not, there was a time when shops like Autumn would vibe you harder then Supreme. Outside of Supreme though, this NEW new york trendy shit is lame as hell. Just my opinion. Im 30 years old. Im already set in my ways.

I also dont watch skate videos because they are relatable. I watch them to see gnarly skating. Extra points if the music and editing is good. Triple points if the pros are dudes who I think are rad people in general. To me watching Sean Pablo skate is like watching Richie Jackson. They both do easy "relatable" tricks but they both are insanely boring as fuck to watch. Unless you have some sort of fetish for hipsters in cuffed jeans, I just dont see the hype. Especially when dudes on Slap rip on guys like the Primitive team. "Never", interestingly enough, is a video that is on repeat for me all the time. NO B-ROll. No hijynx or "art". Just really good skating. Carlos Ribeiro..... fuck!!! Too bad their graphics are complete and utter ass. Ironically enough, I dig Quasi's graphics more than any other company out right now, including the brands I grew up on.

The Quasi clips on Thrasher are pretty gnarly though. And the boards are the best I ever skated hands down both in quality and in design. Theyll be getting 55 bucks from me every 2 weeks until next winter haha. Just not itching for their content like that unfortunately.

Side note: Yeah Right was the first video I saw when I was buying my first board at balance skate shop in Brooklyn in 2000. Justin Eldridge, Rodrigo TX and Koston were among my favorites. PJWHH was playing on VHS every day. Bootleg 3000 b sides was another dvd that I popped in every fucking day. I owned maybe 50 pairs of accels. I moved to California as soon as I graduated high school. Should give you an idea of what flavors got me into skating as a kid. Im sure a lot of the older Slap heads who love this new east coast stuff probably grew up in the Menace days. Makes sense. You like what you like. This is Slap not a liberal arts college. We didnt come here to agree.

That’s cool that you watched Yeah Right three years before it came out. Maybe get your shit straight before you come on here trying to convince us how deep in the game you are?
At least when you're a washed-out hipster douchebag in NY, you can milk it at some decent looking, hard to skate spots. In LA you're just a tan-lined faggot in a school yard somewhere.
