DIY Decks on the rise?
« on: March 09, 2016, 05:10:55 PM »
Just saw that Enjoi posted this video and then I remembered that creature recently did something like this. Is this a possible new trend? What are your thoughts?

It grabs my attention but, I don't have the tools and will probably mess up or just skate the unshaped piece of wood

Seems like kind of a hassle and easy to mess up. Especially if you don't have power tools

It must be a conspiracy to pass off the costs of board production onto the consumer...

8.38 x 32 not a lot of wiggle room to experiment. seems like enjoi just wanted to put out a square shape and kill 2 trends with one board.

I just imagine a bunch of borderline regular kids watching these videos and actually using a hand saw to cut these things.

I did this to make a cruiser for my girlfriend. Found a template online and modified it in photoshop.

It came out great, actually. Sawing with the jigsaw is easy but the sanding takes forever if you do it by hand like I did.

Check it out. I've since put some fatter wheels on it, but you get the idea.

These kinda remind me of those big boards Gonz was riding for a bit.

I always wanted to try one of those.

In my zeal to find something to put 215s on, the deck looked killer. Good company, I originally coveted the Ricky Winsorhttp://assaultskates.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=460

There used to be a company that advertised in the mags in the 80's-90's called, "Lake Skateboards."  They sold rectangle blanks.  The idea was to cut your own shape.

I don't want a board I have to make myself. Same goes for Mexican food. I don't want to put that shit together. That's why I came to a restaurant. Why would I want to pay the same price for something I have to work for? Life is so hard sometimes.
