Looks like he's just getting into the pool wearing what he already has on (which as someone in the start of Australian summer I def back). Also it's the polite thing to do, don't need to be walking around the pool with your wet dick presented at everyone's face height. Underwear can at least stop it flopping around everywhere

Lol i don't think I even own boardshorts and haven't intentionally gone swimming in decades it's always just some suprise opportunity so I jump in with whatever shorts I'm already wearing and I'm not bothering to take my underwear off first.
Mostly joking about the polite thing just so you don't have to waggle your nob at everyone sitting around the pools face level.

Probably wasn't getting paid no more after the Diamond shoe thing was gone. That seemed to be his last legit paycheck since it has been said all riders got paid way too much. Girl's check is probably nothing so it was only right to just stop skateboarding. Also once you are that big and you passion is lifting, things like skateboarding is almost impossible. Your body just doesn't move the same and he doesn't want to cut working out anytime soon.
