Does anyone remember accels before roughly 2004 being way better? Among some other details, the toe box was longer, pointier, and had a more responsive flick. I forget exactly when, but es and a few other shoe brands started selling at malls, and after that the accel was much stubbier. The accel reissues capture that post-2004ish era, and in my opinion that is a huge bummer
I never bought any accels until after 2004 but when they were on hiatus I found a pair that I believed were from 1999-2000 at a value village for $10. They had a slightly sideways es logo on the tongue and looked very similar to these ones which are from that time
the suede was bald and they smelled like someone walked through wet snow for 10 years, I only skated them twice before I threw them out but I remember the toe box being the same as my 2004 brown/white leather pair I bought on eBay
The 2004 has way higher quality fit and a noticeably longer toebox than the OG accel's shameful disgrace of a toebox.
You can recognize the longer toe box in koston's manual tricks in yeah right and fully flared. I would pay $100+ for higher quality Accels if they made them, I always preferred them over dunks.
