It feels disingenuous or hyperbolic to say because it’s only been out a month, but GX1000 - Roll Up is one of the best skate videos ever made. That video will never, ever cease being gnarly.
The skating and editing are top, obviously, but the no hype release and what essentially amounts to a group of anonymous and mostly unsponsored skaters is what takes the cake. It’s just absolutely pure and raw street skating—in every sense—done purely out of love, and not for a company/job/money.
It’s a once in a generation type thing.
This is not hyperbolic at all, this video is fucking all time and will be looked back the same way as we look back at legendary videos like Modus and shit like that.
Fucking loved the fact that companies started focusing on making full lengths again.
Here's my Top 5
1. GX1000 Roll Up - No questions asked
2. Polar - We Blew It at Some Point- This had a classic feel to it too, definitely made me want to go out and skate which is something that a lot of videos now don't have.
3. Cons Purple- It was really well made and had a really good soundtrack. Still watch Louie Lopez's part regularly.
4. Girl Doll/Quasi Mother- These are the underdogs of the year for me, both really good adapting to the shorter "full length" format perfect to watch in a whole sitting before going skating
5. Supreme Blessed- A bit too long for me to watch in one sitting before going to skate, but you can not fuck with Bill Strobelight
