She looks like a great influence.

Edit: they both look fucked up in this pic, and relationships and recovery are usually though to be a bad idea.

I’m sure she’s very sweet but old Freddy’s prolly got to get seriously cleaned up.

Freddy will never be completely of the cycle of getting fucked up. Trying to get clean from opiates at Bams literally turned into a giant party

Sounds like he might be going to rehab. If so, good for him.

You made a typo in your thread title and my Spidey senses tell me it was intentional.

before the conversation turns into “bam should take care of himself” it should be known that most addicts will help everyone around them get free from drug and alcohol addiction before getting clean themselves. bam has the resources to get uncle freddy the help he needs and is doing all he can to get him taken care of.

Yeah this seems like nothing other than positive to me.
I'm going to argue that Placebo owes their entire career to a Canadian dude's skate video part. Appleyard should be getting royalties for this shit.

Not as shitty as addiction and death.
Now, we used to say we put on our tights to put on the world. So I don't think it tarnishes the image at all.

Will a clean/sober Freddy still be slaps hero?
Not that I wish him harm, just seems he’s everyone’s clown with some comments posted here and other threads.

Rehab is just the start...assuming hes somewhere good-everything there is afforded, food, good surroundings, people who listen.

What happens when he gets out? What's his aftercare/support group like? Is he gonna go back home to selling eighths and drinking domestics?

I would be very happy to be wrong about this but I dont believe hes ready to make that change. You think Fred will make it an entire 28 days? If some days without hard drugs keeps Freddy around for a little longer that's what's up

who knows man? i figure that he's going to be in a good rehab if bam is the one that got him in. along with it being a good rehab would come a professional evaluation. if he doesn't lie or sugarcoat his addiction and it really is as bad as it's made out to be then they might keep him for a full 90 days and/or put him in a halfway house for awhile once he gets out. to be honest, i hope that they do. opiates are no joke and everyone i have ever known that got heavily into them ended up dying, even after their stints in rehab/jail. it's always that thing where someone gets sober for a little bit, relapses and ods. they're used to taking a such a high dosage and once it's out of their system for long enough their tollerence lowers while they're still thinking they can do as much as they were before and it ends up killing them. i hope this won't be the story of fred gall and i hope this is the start to a much needed fresh start/new lifestyle for the guy.

Yup, at least he is surrounding himself with people that are sober, slowly but he will.

Hopefully uncle Fred comes through. As for what 123ABC said, he's more of a hero for getting clean like some Pals have.

I’m guessing Bam is paying, but Bam will be back in rehab soon also, so maybe when they relapse they can go to back to rehab together. Still hoping for the best for them.

Just to reiterate, I am not wishing ill of Freds journeys into sobriety, I’m just confused as to where people truly stand on this topic.
FG early career/profile in skateboarding was awesome but his, like many, downward spiral has bought on conflicting comments and veiws.
Not hating just confused.

If you've hung out with Fred in person you know he's an incredibly mercurial character. He's a depressed loner and you wonder if he's suicidal, and then the next minute his motivation  for life is inspiring you to build a homeless shelter or a quarterpipe. He's a liability and a hero.
