Death Skateboards ( uk board company)
« on: December 29, 2018, 03:46:43 PM »
Was watching some of there old videos recently that featured the likes of Richie Jackson, Patrick melcher, Zarosh Eggleston, and some uk rippers including horsey, boots, steak and in my opinion the least talented pro of all time Dan cates. I actually quite enjoyed these videos back when they came out, back when the British skate scene staples were blueprint, heroin, landscape, this was my personal favourite era of British skateboarding. Any thoughts on the current British skate scene?

Death skateboards have made some of the best and most definitive UK skate videos. Their owner is class act too.
I'm going to argue that Placebo owes their entire career to a Canadian dude's skate video part. Appleyard should be getting royalties for this shit.

Doesn’t “Death” seem a little.... grim?

I remember watching a Vans UK tour when I was a kid and Dan Cates was on there. I thought he sick...blue hair, spray painted griptape, breathing fire and could barely ollie.

Met him a few years later and he was boring as fuck.

Never meet your heroes.

As much as a kook Richie Jackson is , I dig  his skating.
Plus  I think I can do some of those tricks.
I know I could slide on a picnic table  n land on a skateboard on the other side.

Others.

Isle is great but they haven't had half the impact Blueprint or Palace have on the British skate scene.

I don't mean the brand aesthetic or whatever, I am talking in regards to how these brands have represented British skateboarding. Blueprint at the time was a big deal and something very different to what was coming out of the US and in turn influenced a lot of American brands, Palace very much did the same thing.

Richie Jackson has that splash factor. His tricks were cool but how many things can we watch him slide on top of before it gets old. Also his insta is wild.

Still around, still kills it. He rides for Piilgrim Clothing and has some footage in here from the three minute mark.

What happened to Descent skateboards?

They made a logo and then took an extended holiday to celebrate.

Bro.. what makes Richie Jackson a kook? Is it because he has long hair and wears women’s clothes? Or is it the fact he exposes homophobic skateboarders on instagram?
