I wish that instead of drawing completely unnecessary attention to the spot, they would have used some of that time and energy into making it skatable again.
I dig the passion behind the reasoning, but wouldn't cutting the chain or removing the gate be just a bit more noticeable?

I agree with that. I was thinking more along the lines of bondoing the roll up or landing so when someone is ready to skate it all they have to do is cut the chain.

The spot has history and people skating it is gnarly, it's a proving ground, whatever.

It's a set of stairs. That 99% of skater's will never skate. That has a new trick done down the set once every what, five years? And what makes the rails special anymore? Over half the time someone slams it's into the grassy side. Just go to the walnut 21 if you want to get gnarly and you're in California.

Everybody seems so attached and hurt that el Toro is unskateable. Is everyone just bored and looking for something to act outraged and comment on?

Everybody has to just chill and let it go. Its a spot. Spots die. The Hollywood 16 should have died years ago. El Toro is dead.

You're talking out of your ass.
I'm going to argue that Placebo owes their entire career to a Canadian dude's skate video part. Appleyard should be getting royalties for this shit.

This fucking guy launched a golf cart over the fence and down the set and then soaped the rail. Anyone claiming they want to try something on the set needs to take a long look at the man in the mirror and ask themselves if they really want it.

Hahaha real dead, some random pops the chain and powers right through the blind stoppers without even bondo-ing it, shirt off. Only thing that is dead is your rep.

I wonder how much the whole anti-skate/bmx/unicycle renovation cost. It seems to have done nothing but attract more attention to the spot.

It'll only take some time until NKA shows up with his elementary school posse. Just let the spot die

According to the kid that bs grinded it, they're even replacing the middle rail. He said there were already holes for it when he went so if anything they made the spot better. I don't really care if it's skateable or not but I still wanna see a bs noseblunt go down. It's not like perfect 20 stairs are easy to find.
