I don't think that t-shirt was a pizza skateboards thing. I think it was just a diy screen printer thing.

Pizza skateboards sucks, but I saw this shirt and pins at the Punk Rock Flea Market in Philadelphia in the winter of 2014. It was at one of the t-shirt screen printers stands and they had enamel pins. Pretty sure the shirt has nothing to do with Pizza skateboards and was mostly a fucking around with the Palace design because it was especially iconic among celebrities that year. I would never have purchased anything Pizza skateboards related and at that time I don't think I ever heard of Pizza skateboards. I bought a white shirt  with red font and immediately fucked it up because I eat like a big baby.

I actually did a quick search and the DIY people making these appear to be daywaste and found that they still have the pins

Yo, good research, thanks for correcting. If anything, my mistake only highlights how successful Pizza's crappy marketing campaign of an art direction is; their shtick is literally to never produce any original graphic (and boy, what an inspired shtick), so much that their shit ends up blurring the lines and crossing over to pop culture with no effort needed; they just put the stuff out and the rest of the world does the job for them. Originally I was just looking for that deck in a Google search and not only did that specific shirt also show up (so I naively included it), but also dozens of other big name logo rip-off graphic legit Pizza shirts. It's probably the first skate brand to openly admit just riding the masses' wave as opposed to creating something original and nurturing the original skate culture to such an extent.

Point kind of still stands, if you're going to attack another brand, why not attack a brand that's actually shit and directly ripping off your product instead of a longtime local company ran by a fellow skate nerd? Scared to piss Thrasher off is my guess and if true that's pretty weak.

Maybe because when somone says Pizza skateboards it's followed by "who?"

Plus Palace is past it's prime, the whole Grateful Dead design look has taken over the fashion/Instagram scene

The tennis triangle company is dead in the water

I get where you're coming dude. I didn't want to defend Pizza or anything, they suck. The most butt company ever.

Backing Lev's switch tre.

they are going against the swim lanes! there's a QS piece on that as a spot faux pas ages ago.

i hope I can still toss those out as I enter my that ground has the slippery quality that makes scoop tricks happen.

i've been tossing switch catfish tre's (cool name for reverts) as an alternative to get back to regular. Obviously not this slow but...

clever.

but like i was saying that prawn is a relevant marketer for palace regardless of his lack of progression. he's really out in the streets all. the. time.

there's this kid "dahippyfromNY" or some shit that keeps popping up on discover. he get's like 50k views with hashtags and shit. the ULTIMATE amateur skater footage chopped up at a skate park. what does it even matter to most brands in the scheme of things if you're nasty on a board? it's sad. hate to say it but most of those skaters on cover version are better than palace riders and virtually nobody remembers their names.

I was actually a big fan of Shawn Powers in his Caviar days. The dude can skate and has done some sick shit to prove it, but I think most people just judge him based on his output from around the time he got on Palace and blew up, which was tame in comparison to his old stuff, and then the awful lobster thing paired up with his addictions and overall demeanor in day in the life videos and interviews didn't help. Still really liked his part in Dany, or his welcome to Palace clip (IIRC). Kind of looking forward to his evolution now that he's clean, actually.

Palace puts out better videos then most companies if not the best at the moment. I like how they make their bank of hypebeast and the like. Wish their boards were not dwindle but I have heard dwindle being solid decks despite the bad rep they get.
I ended up with a Palace 8.5 on my hands. I don't really skate it because I don't like the shape but the wood feels solid and is nice and snappy.

I saw your mom do a ollie to cooch drop straight down the big black pole, it was gnarly. she defiantly shut that shit down

they're strong as hell. Only reason I can see anyone hating them is because they are super stiff at first and if they aren't broken in I can see them breaking fast from being too stiff

Oh yeah and the shapes fuckin suck, but whatever guess i'll rock with a stumpy ass tail or whatever

Lol. Eldee is definitely a human. He’s like a raider on horse back who’s kinda scared to do battle. Somehow he closes his eyes and swings his sword wildly and wakes up in a pile of dead orcs.

that's funny, but fried. I'm saying if you're downtown manhattan it's bizarre you're running into that dude at some event, some gallery opening, some show, at some spot, skitching, just there. with palace on, with people at the top of the fashion game.

hate to say it but downtown new york city is the nucleus of all street and fashion culture globally. having worked at conde nast for 5 years, it's true. it sounds provincial but just go out and you'll see if you know what's goodie.

What are they doing that’s calling out slap? Saying prawn? That just means they read slap like almost every other company and then denies it

Maybe this should go in the conspiracies thread, but it's obvious to me Palace is trying to get at slap in the most devious way possible. Intentionally mismarking wheel base measurements for every single Palace shape to drive all Pals deeper into madness. Lev playing the long game?
