SG is so pathetic.

It was fine. He's not as funny now cause he's super rich and (relatively) old, not cause he's too offensive.

I think the fact the comments sections on his bits are praising it for being “offensive” rather than “funny” says all that needs to be said.

Being pro-union and having marxist views I am what you would probably call a lefty. If I was a woman I think I would also be a feminist.

I liked Dave Chapelle's special. The bits that were critical of identity politics were super valid. Just because you are rich, white and have the world's best job does not mean you could also be unhappy enough to kill yourself. He suggested that lgbtq is not a natural group, but an alliance forged despite lots of differences. He expressed his uneasyness with trans rights groups from the stand point of a black man (like he has done in a few other bits). In a pretty funny bit he compared the black crack epidemic to the mostly white heroin epidemic. He uses identity politics himself, while in other bits severly criticizing them. Because: Fuck! life is complicated and emotions seldomly fit exactly into one world view.

You should be happy stand-up is still a place where ambivalence can be expressed!

I'm pathetic why? I like to see two sides of the coin. I'm open to things and if someone says something of value I'm willing to recognize it.

I read that Vice article saying skip it because it was offensive and old, so I hopped on Netflix instantly and watched it.  I thought it was really funny and I am pretty fucking liberal.  People need to calm down about what people say and get a sense of humor.  Unless people can start laughing at themselves we're all screwed.

This is one of those occasions where one person gets very upset, the media creates a pernicious false narrative, and then everyone has to take it upon themselves to discover that the general population is not actually like that.

This is the kind of feedback I was looking for . Some insight not just hurling insults and making assumptions about each other.

I enjoyed it and it made me laugh.  I can understand why it wouldn't be funny to some LGBT people and some activists.  But Dave wasn't promoting hate in anyway towards the group.  He was just making jokes like he does about every group of people.  No one is exempt.  I definitely found the bit about drug differences between black and white people to be very funny.
People getting super offended are nothing new.  It's been happening in comedy forever.  Unfortunately, they wont learn that you aren't being forced to watch or attend the comedy show.  You can leave at any time.

I wish he would retire his not that great or funny takes on LGBQT (seems like he has heard this but is doubling down to prove some point), but overall this shit is hilarious.
Second half was better.

All black people need to buy guns so we get gun control, and “I don’t care either” about opioid vs crack epidemic killed me and is real shit

All 3 of his Netflix specials have been good. Dave the GOAT. Lol at 25% critics rating and 100% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes

Don’t miss the Q&A and some bonus bits (in trailers & more on Netflix).

But yea also in his next special Dave is probably gonna have to tell some of these right wingers who are weirdly excited about this to chill.

I mostly agree with you and S. points. I feel like there is a time and place for everything. Comedy is a form of entertainment and you can't take yourself so serious all the time and have to let loose here and there. While his humor is offensive it's important to realize what you're getting into. Kinda like going to watch a Fast and the Furious film, the plot and reasoning and writing will be subpar as cars that go vroom very fast are the highlight.

I have a pod cast where we talk a lot about boomer memes aka "I identify as a helicopter" and shit like that so I'm neck deep in that shit all the time. That is all I could think of while watching this. It was lazy. I'm all for being "edgy" if its smart but this material was hack. These jokes could  have been written by any Tucker Carlson disciple on facebook. Chapppelle Show aired 16 years ago and was groundbreaking its sad that he never really evolved its almost like he did the opposite.
