love seeing all the quasi & JJ love
For you guys that have had a few quasis including acid ply, did acid ply feel weaker than the standard deck? I've only ever had the bledsoe acid ply and it snapped on an ill landed sw front pop on flat during the second session. Loved the shape and feel before that happened so I wonder if the reg quasi decks were any better.

I'm ashamed to admit that after reading this description, I went directly to Parade and purchased.  Do you - or anyone else on here - know who presses their wood?

Hopefully you like it as much as I do. This run is clutch. K8 mold. Made a post in the woodshop thread after DMing ToA insta but basically theories had to use clutch for some runs instead of generator due to covid. Said a restock of generator wood should be soon.

Well I snapped my last deck after 2 sessions. Before that I tried an 8.25 deck and 5.8 Ventures which felt way bigger than I could handle. Prior to that I rode the same deck for around 4 months (before and during lockdown), only swapping out trucks because I was bored.
I've had 1 setup in recent memory that ticked all the boxes, issue is that the board company (Folklore) is based in Australia ($75 USD before shipping) with irregular dimensions (8 x 32 x 14) plus it had a sheet of carbon fiber. The plan was to load up on a stack whenever I would travel to Australia for work, probably 2-3 times a year. But the pandemic has put a damper on that plan.
[close]

Makes sense. I ask, as I swap stuff fairly regularly as well, which makes consistency difficult. I also circle round to things I previously tried and dismissed, and end up enjoying the same shit, but at a different time. Too much time in between sessions, not enough time skating, too much time on the slap, huge contributors to setup dissatisfaction, for me.
[close]
I was the same way for months and I finally found 2 dimensions and truck combos that I will stick with for now on. So much wasted time and money obsessing over setups had me missing out on the whole reason I love skateboarding. ACTUALLY SKATING lol. I get an itch every now and again to change something when I see a new video or add but my progression and recovery is more important.
[close]

What was your magic combination? Trucks wise I'm sticking with Ventures, 5.6 or 5.2 (Lo) in standard or V-Hollow. Still undecided if I like a shorter deck and WB (31.6 x 14), in between (31.75 x 14.25) or extreme (32 x 14).
I find that venture 5.8 standard with bones bushings on an 8.25×31.75×14 works amazing for ledge and flat ground and deluxe se full shape 8.5×32×14.38 with independent 144 standard bones bushings work good for everything else. That's what I'm trying to stick with. The venture also feel good on the 8.5 after it's broken in.

This is sick. Maybe you posted about them elsewhere but how are you liking the Ace lows?

Seeing your setups always makes me want to size down (I'm at 8.25" right now).

I've skated 4 or 5 over the last few years and I don't think my acid ply feels weaker.

I will say that someone who's pretty inconsistent with flip tricks besides heelflip variations, the finish on the rails starts looking like shit real quick after a couple whiffs or airballs.

I don’t really know how to describe them because I’ve skated Thunders for the past 15 years, but I’ll mention some of the things I like. The turn is pretty nice and they’re naturally loose trucks with soft bushings. I used to take the bottom washers out of my trucks to get crooked grinds to pinch the way I like, but I didn’t need to with these. The baseplate actually touch when you do nose/tailslides. They also look cool. Sometimes the board does this weird wiggle when I bend down for certain flip tricks. I can’t stand that

Yeah I have been using the same 53mm conical fulls on both. I tried some 53mm tablets which felt damn near the same just a little more nimble but I went back to the fulls because I wanted to keep the tablets fresher so I'm not wearing down 2 sets of wheels at the same time.

What exactly is the Quasi Acid-Ply all about? My local sold out of them before I could even take a look at them.

They’re basically just dipped - the rails and top are painted different colors. Giving it a different name is making fun of gimmick-y deck technology.
