A fresh Tbone.
8.25
149 standard indy
52s

So I'm about 3 months in on sizing up. This is my 3rd 8.25. Coming from 5 years on a 8 with 139s. Before that 5 years on 7.75 with 139s. Before that a solid decade on a 7.625 with 126s at first, then 129s, then 139s. All indys. Prior to that, a decade of experimenting with everything.
I've actually been thinking about making the change for a while. Probably a year. It seems to be what most people skate. Maybe there is something to it. But then again, don't fix what isn't broke. It finally came down to laziness basically. I needed a new board. Didn't have an 8. But had an 8.25 that had been sitting around for years. So I set it up. At first, just with the 139's I had been skating on my 8. Well that felt really weird. It was kind of like a waterski. Or as if the board was on a track. Plus I just don't like the way a set up looks when the trucks are inside the edge of board. So I went and got some 149s to fit.
And I love it. That extra centimeter of truck and the wider board really makes for a more stable feel. And when grinding, I feel like I don't have to aim as much. The truck, grind is just there, so to speak. The only downside is flipping my board. At first it was actually really difficult. But, a few months in, it's getting a little better. I pretty much have to relearn where to put my feet and how to flick for every flip trick. 360 flips just finally started making sense again recently. But then I was fighting a losing battle for hours in this ditch recently trying to fakie inward heel. I might end up being one of these weirdos who rolls out with a quiver. And set up an 8 for the rare occasions I want to get flippy. My 139's are still in fine condition. Overall though, I'm happy I made the change.

It doesn't feel short when you start skating it.

interesting downsize Yapple

hands- i recently rode a bigger board than 8inches for the first time with 149 trucks. i 100% feel you on "aiming" grinds onto ledges. much easier.

Coda 8.25 - had a defective one where it basically split in half horizontally (like between the plys ) but I emailed them and they sent me a new one right away and I've loved it thus far. I think it's shorter than a typical 8.25, with a nice big nose and tail. It's one of
Those boards that really wants to stay under your feet when doing flip tricks if that makes any sense, love it and much respect to them for standing by there product.
Indy 139
Spitfire F4 conical fulls - I've come to the conclusion these are just too damn wide
Reds I think
Same phantom truck Allen hardware I've had for like 8 years

Beautiful set up. I love that hobo graphic. I've skated three Coda's and loved every one. Their space bear deck was amazing, I'm currently skating the sewer caps deck.

Been a minute, trying to get caught up in this thread. And just for concerned_parent, indeed everyone is KILLING IT with these setups. That McCrank L60 just posted is super good.

Here's a hug for you C_P.

And I know this is a shocker, another Habitat for me.

You're shitting me? Did they make it official? That sucks. But with as weird as the 'business' side of industry has been I figured it was coming sooner or later. I still have a lot of sets to burn through luckily.

There's nothing inherently wrong with them, they slide nice and have good grip even in slippery indoor parks. It's just that I mostly like to skate ledges and I feel like the combo of the wide wheels and 139ers makes it hard to lock into grinds sometimes, especially back crooks since I've hit axle in the crook spot. I set up some thunder 149s cause I don't want to snap my trucks while I'm in Cuba (can't buy gear there cause of the whole communism thing), so we'll see if that makes a difference.

I think it's unofficially official.

I have no idea what exactly is up with Crupie wheels but it looks like a few of the Autobahn team went there http://www.crupie.com/
