Am drooling over the Kevin Taylor model in that series, is there and 8.25 version and if so what’s the wheelbase like? Are they all on pennswood or are they mixing woodshops again?
[close]

KT comes in 8.125 and 8.375 but not 8.25. The 8.375 wb is 14.5", but its a 32.25" deck so it fits pretty well. I don't have an 8.125 anymore but I have notes on it that I can look up if you want the measurements on that one. Graphic-wise that's my favorite of the series but shape wise I'm not a big fan. It's fairly tapered on both ends and has sort of a 90s football thing going on, but that's just me looking at it.. I haven't actually skated that one, so it could be amazing for all I know. Wood is all PS stix now, you can find some Pennswood logo decks floating around in shops still but someone on here emailed them and said they're done with PW for now. Personally I'm fine with that as the PS shapes are more to my liking (obviously) and they have more variety in length/wb/shape to choose from. Also despite my prior opinions of PS wood, I got back on it in the fall and it's become my go-to and I love it now.

Do you know if the Ty Beall deck and the kevin taylor one are of the same shape? I see that they're both marked "deep concave" on the site.

Awesome setup by the way.
[close]

Different shape and measurements. Beall is shorter and has a slightly tapered nose but full tail (sort of a reverse WKND shape) and KT is longer and is tapered on both ends. Concave and kick angle is similar though, both have a fairly steep nose and the tail is a little mellower.

All the decks are different and have their own little niche so theres kind of something for everyone. It's a really cool series.
honestly that kinda sucks that they went with PS stix, their wood quality is what made them more appealing than quasi et. al.

I can still find some of their boards on pennswood where I live so perhaps I should pull the trigger they’re no longer available

Impish sausage is definitely gonna blow up as a euphemism this year

Also puzzling that they don't add any of this information on their site. you could order two 8.5s from them and have it be completely different shapes and wheelbases.

It’s two noses. It’s going to be steeper and bigger than most people are used to unless they skate their boards backwards or something. You can’t tell from the first picture, but it’s kind of squared. So far it’s a good board. Someone else also found and waxed up my isolation spot, so I have wax on my grip and I’m not stoked about it

They also make an 8.25 of the same board. I’m glad they offer the smaller size. I skated 8.5’s and tried to convince myself that I liked them from about 2009-2013 when I went back down to an 8

Good detective work. I have 2 Element boards I picked up from 2nd hand setups that I've cannibalized, 1 was from the MLB series and the other an Appleyard, guess I'll finally get to try a PS Stix board.

Yet another boredom induced setup.

Hotel Blue 8.25 Monkey deck (8.25" x 31.6" 14.25“ wb)
Film 5.5 hollow w/ film soft bushings
54mm Spitfire F4 conical full
Bronson raw
Jessup Ultra

This is Clutch "O" shape, which is their take on the trendy big nose/square kick style. I really liked my last one (8.38 coda) so hopefully this one will be just as good.

its hard to tell right now man, i was previously skating an 8.625x33 Krooked that had a 14.75 wb with 159 indys.  so swapping from indys to ventures and dropping the board size & wb is all a pretty considerable change.  i had 1 really good session with it, but had to adjust my flick a bit at 1st.  overall the whole setup feels super dreamy though

The ground is wet so I probably can't skate it until tomorrow. I forgot how nice the 8.25 is to look at.

I have rode in a while. Also, those element trucks ride great in stock form.

I have 1" shortys allen, but with the smaller nuts that come with the 7/8". With my last DOA I put the risers on after I had been skating it for a bit and it was fine with the normal nuts.

Yeah actually I meant to post this earlier but forgot....I can't read the text from that picture, but I know on the newer Element decks they have a similar engraving to what PS does except it says "pressed by BBS" and has the exact board measurements including the wheelbase and nose/tail. So basically what I'm saying is don't just assume because there's a laser engraving between the front truck holes that it's PS stix. I was under the impression that Element hadn't used PS for some time, but it's really not an a company that I keep super close tabs on either. Here's an example from one of the new bad brains decks.
