DOA 8.25" JD shape flat
Venture 5.2 low
51mm tablets that are a lot smaller
shorty/jessup/reds
[close]

how you liking 8.25 with the 5.2 lows? no magic carpet feeling?
[close]

Interested to know this myself. Would yield nice scoop I'd imagine

I don't mind a little magic carpet, but don't really notice it either. I do run an extra washer on the inside.

I learned just about everything I know (not much) on lows so at this point I'm happy to deal with a little overhang instead of truck madness.

Ok

This is pure sex...wow
Does anyone know if the Flat AF DOA's have the same dimensions as the normal concave. Mainly concerning the space between the bolts and nose/tail. I ask because I like a little flat there for my Ventures, and on my DOA 8.1 (normal concave) there isnt much if any.

Thanks. This one has ~1.5" of flat on the tail and ~1.75" on the nose. My normal flat has the opposite.

@ok had a discussion recently about how back in the day we used to think blanks were some secret elite thing because so many pros were rocking them in the World videos, but it was really a tactic from Rodney and Rocco to keep the team from stealing them from the warehouse and selling them.

What do you do with your tail? It looks like it's wearing down super fast.

Woah, don't really leave man. I feel like shit because I laughed :( i don't mind a good old tail drag, its just the way that bro jumped to conclusions asking you to leave.

Go have a look at Butfartrapedick's profile, i think it was his first post he did not know how to grip a board. Now it seems like he grips 2 a day and posts 20 times a day, some of the nicest looking boards out and actually give valuable advice to some brothers.

Just keep at it bro or should i say keep scraping :)

Wholesome :) I foot brake in hills ofc but I like scraping because I can turn back 180 quicker when I want to restart a line since I do mostly flat ground. I’m also learning manuals so when I drop it you know what happens

100%.  Early/mid90s I probably would've paid extra for a World blank.

The blank with the stickers looks so dope, and yes, my opinion is formed from that time. I hadn’t heard that, about the strategy to keep the team thefts down.
I feel like product cycles are too fast. Too much churn, why put out a lasting graphic now, when it’s going to be replaced so quickly. Absolutely nostalgic for personalized pro shapes/graphics. Powell would have some boards that riders had photos in mags using that would say ‘prototype’ or whatever, maybe element (before they were totally burnt) did this at some point as well. Always thought that was sick as fuck.

The madness continues. Decide to set up something smaller and lighter than my 8.8” with 169 standards.

8.25 Clubhouse SB (local brand by a local woodshop)
Pistol grip (also local)
149 Indy forged hollow, 1/8” risers, bones hard
Bender hardware (even more local)
53mm 101a OJ EZ Edge
Rocking rons bearings

I can’t keep the same setup to save my life but I’m on my third pair of Slip On Pros...

I’ve had this deck sitting around for a while. The board I was skating before this was pretty beat up but still perfectly fine to skate, but I noticed this new one was starting to warp very slightly from just sitting around for so long, so before the warping could get super bad I decided to set it up; will probably give my old one to the first person I come across who is in need of a board.

Baker 8.475
Venture 5.8s
DGK street formula 101a, 53mm (found these at my local shop for cheap; been looking for a nice slidey wheel outside of F4s and STFs, and seeing as how these are marketed as their street formula and their team is full of super techy dudes I figured these would probably be a pretty slidey/easy to revert wheel, but we’ll see)
Random assortment of bearings of all different brands
Shortys Allen 1 inch
Grizzly all black grip
Vans OG Half Cabs (not pictured)

How do you like it?

I found the powerply to be pretty stiff. Feels more like ps wood than dwindle imo.

I love PS Stix and stiffer boards so it was nice. It had steeper kicks which I like. It works for me and surprisingly what I was looking for.

Set this up because it’s a little smaller than my last deck but the length was a little weird to adjust to

8.0 primitive x S.P.o.T
5.6 venture ti with cast plates riptides and supercush bushings
53 radial slims
Bones Swiss 6

Ok

I’m starting to believe that 7.75 on 5.0 is the way tho, and if it’s 8” trucks, I think I might do better with an 8.125. That ratio might be more important than the deck size.
Maybe.

Maybe.
It was an brand new Element that cracked pretty good. I landed both feet in the middle on a flat ground tre, and at almost 190 lbs. it didn't stand a chance. I had 139 indys on it and I have very little experience with anything but Ventures so everything was off.
I just got 5.0s as a present but they were Hi's so I sold them off. But I have 5.0 lo's coming tomorrow for when I set up my next 7.75. Also SneakyMcSecrets suggested that I try the indys on my 8.1 DOA that I wasn't jiving with, and I plan on trying that this weekend.

*edit* That means I will have peel that Venture sticker off, and that will hurt my heart deeply.
