Blue top ply. I’m not a big believer in the red ply curse or a lot of other superstitious things. I have a couple reds in my stack and they look pretty good tbh

Ironic seeing so many DOA with red tops. Fletch talked about the curse often on 500 F podcast.

I'm always fascinated with the top ply discussion. For me it's something like:

dark brown/orange > red/yellow > green > pink/purple > blue > natural.

Pretty much every injury I've had has been on a blue top, but I still think an unstained top is the worst. I love red tops and never got the hate...they always look nice and crisp and I've had some great times on them.

Can we just close the thread already? nobody cares about your DOA board with ventures and f4s when this big dick of a set up is looming about.

I already own the tiger rug as you can see here, but I do however need that board desperately.

Probably rocking 8 different bearings, and 8 different colored bolts. Bearings are a mix of Bones, Bronson, FKD, HKD, rollerblade bearings, Ninja minis, Andele and mini logo.

Theres definitely a 7/8" and a 1" bolt on that front truck. I'm not going ask any questions as to why because I know I'm not worthy of learning the answers.

I have been skating 8.5’s for the last nine years straight now, and before that I was between 8 and 8.25 for a while; I don’t think I’ve been on 7.75s since 2007 or early 2008. For the past few months now though I’ve been thinking about doing a 7.75 setup on the side, just to fuck around on and maybe use when I’m trying more technical shit, and plus it just sounds like it’d be a fun lil change. I’ve had the idea in the back of my head for a while but never got around to doing it cuz it would always slip my mind whenever I was at the shop and even if it was on my mind when I was at the shop they just wouldn’t ever have any 7.75s in; ever. “They just don’t sell dude” is what they’d tell me.
Well, just yesterday i found this, a 7.75, tucked away in the corner; I couldn’t believe it; and it was only like 30 bucks too. At that moment I knew if I was going to go through with my idea I’d have to do it then and there, so I said fuck it and bought the board. Not a big fan at all of the graphic but I’ll manage. Dug through my box of used skate stuff when I got home for trucks and wheels and stuff and before I knew it I finally had my 7.75 setup.
I haven’t had a chance to really skate it yet, only did some mellow cruising, and I’m not gonna lie, going from 8.5 straight to this is making this feel like penny board to me, but towards the end of cruising around it started feeling a bit more comfy to me. I’m pretty excited to see how I fair on this thing.

- ATM 7.75
- Some old ass barely used stage 9 129 Indy lows that I found in my closet, I have no idea how I got these trucks or where they came from because I’ve never skated a set of Indy lows in my life, but they were somehow in my closet and the only trucks I had laying around that would fit this board so I threw em on. My friend said he was gonna hook me up with some Indy stage 11 129 standards though so once I get those imma throw those on and toss the lows back aside.
-bones hard bushings
-spitfire F4 99a 54mm
-random assortment of bearings
-iron horse hardware
-Jessup grip

Maybe it's your jam, but 55mm tall trucks and 54mm wheels sounds like it would feel like this:

Did you go with the cast plate for the added height and wheelbase shortening?

My current setup was getting tired so I decided to say fuck it and ride a totally new setup.

- Habitat Janoski / Joanna Goodman, 8 x 31.5 x 14

- Tensor Mag Lights, 5.5 I believe. They came in a box, so they're possibly an older model; I'm not sure if they're ATG or not

- Bones Swiss. I switched out my Bones Swiss 6 and put these regular Swiss in, which seem to function even better than the Swiss 6

- Spitfire Classic F4 101D 51 mm

- Bones riser pads 1/8, generic hardware, Jessup grip. I'm slowly getting better at applying grip

Had my first session on it a few hours ago, and holy shit it's so light and poppy. My ollies felt great. Did a few basic tricks on it and carved around, it feels solid. The trucks grind really well and I can feel the grind, it's not insubstantial like others say. The kicks are really squarish but I'm okay with it, hopefully they improve my tailslides and noseslides. My kickflips feel good too, they don't overflip or fly away because of the lightness, which I was concerned about. Hopefully it gets better with age.

The Primitive cracked to the point of being unskateable so I set this up

Krooked Brad Cromer shape. At its widest it’s an 8.38 but tapers down putting it in my size range. I was going to skate it as a cruiser originally, but figured I’d spice things up for a couple weeks. I slammed and fell flat on my face first try of my first trick

That shape was my first foray into shapes. Pretty mellow, only felt like a mini after taking some time away and coming back to it. Blame it on a bigger board I suspect.

Red plys are dope. Never understood that one.

That is a nice looking setup man. Haven't thought that 144s fit that shape so well. Any magic carpet?

I gave up on my 8.1 square DOA, so I ordered a 8.1 shop deck from Orchard to replace it. Definitely more my style.
Air force 2's and a freshly painted skateboarding obstacle for my maneuvers too.

Thanks man, the shape is perfect and you cant beat that graphic. As for the DOA it was just the squared nose and tail, I had never skated one and I couldn't get used to it for fliptricks, too much real estate was fucking with my foot placement

snapped my "normal" board and set up this Polar i got on sale a while back

Polar Klez 8.3
Ace 44s
OJ 55s
Cons Bobby D Chucks

got a few pairs of Cons from Tactics for under 30 bucks b/c of some glitch, and i've been pretty surprised how easily they have broken in and how good they feel.  i wasn't feeling Cons (hate the way CTAS look), but these other models have made me a fan.

never really paid attention to wheelbase, but the WB on the Polar feels really long.  just starting to get used to it.
