Just set this up for the DIY spot. Went back to 44 classics on my regular board and put the AF1s on this.
Polar Shin Sanbongi Surf Shape
Ace AF1 55s
F4 Classics 56mm 97a
Reds
Maybe hardware

Looks fun

New park setup:
Polar Shin Surf Jr. shape
ACE 44’s with 1/16th shock pads
58mm OJ Mini Combo’s.
Quantum Atoms

Didn’t realize there was a difference between the surf shape and the surf jr. shape. Flipped the mini combos with the conical edge on the inside and the rounded edge outside. They’re also pretty grippy for a 101a, which is great because I had buyers remorse thinking I should’ve gotten a softer wheel. Atoms seem fast enough, but I’m also skating 58’s and skating ramps so it’s hard to tell

Loving these G052 Craig decks. 8.25 with a bit of taper and a 14" wheelbase. I've skated two of the PS-Stix versions and two of the Chinese woodshop versions - I like the Chinese ones way better. Nice and poppy with 4 beautiful dyed plies.

Specs:
Chocolate Raven Tershy 8.25 (G052 shape)
Independent Titanium 144's w/ Bones hard bushings
Spitfire Classics 54mm 97a (maybe 52mm now)
Bones Swiss bearings
Jessup as always

Birdhouse Hale deck 8.625
Satori wheels 54mm 101a
Old Indy's
Old swiss
Jessup so I don't mess up

Don't get me wrong, there's some pretty fucking rad setups on here. The darkroom and other short, fatties look so fun.

However, after skating this board a couple times, it's probably one of my favorites ever. Never thought I'd buy a Birdhouse, but I hope they keep making this shape. Goes perfect with Indy's but might try my Ventures on it this weekend.

So rad, how do you like the Ace shock pads? Do they make the set-up sound dead at all?

That's news to me as well, so guess there's three iterations of the surf shape now. What's the length and WB on the Jr?

Loving these G052 Craig decks. 8.25 with a bit of taper and a 14" wheelbase. I've skated two of the PS-Stix versions and two of the Chinese woodshop versions - I like the Chinese ones way better. Nice and poppy with 4 beautiful dyed plies.

Spitfire Classics 54mm 97a (maybe 52mm now)
Bones Swiss bearings
Jessup as always
Damn this looks so nice. Is it as full as it looks in the picture? The nose and tail, that is. I see the slight overall taper from front to back, but it looks like a pretty meaty nose and tail, in a good way.

Nose is definitely full, less than a FA / Hockey, and a hair less than GX1000 / Quasi. Can't recall the tail, but the dimensions are definitely good fun.

Might have to skate a crail board for the first time in, god, 12 years? Are different shapes different woodshops? What's the current crail woodshop situation?

Are Isles still really flat? I’ve wanted one for a while because I like the brand but everyone has said they’re flat and I love deep concave.

I had two G052's in row and loved both of them.

Quality of boards has definitely improved since the mid 2010s to early 2020. Mid 2020 and beyond stuff is definitely solid and worth the money. Majority of boards are pressed in China, select ranges (I think there was a BLM deck) are pressed at PS Stix.

Setup a G052 for a homie last year with Thunder 148 Team Hollow Lights, took it for a spin and was immediately regretted my decision; it was exactly the kind of setup I would have loved. Some shapes are hit and miss, rode Mike Carrols G016 shape and I hated it after just 30 minutes.

The Crail shape / dimensions page is a great resource for gear nerds; the detailed dimensions give you a solid indication of what you are getting.

If you're outside the US just beware of counterfeit Girl / Chocolate decks.

Frog 8.5
Thunder 149 standard
F4 Spitfire Conical Full 54mm 101 A
Olympia Silver bearings
7/8 hardware

Been riding the same trucks, wheels, and similar sized decks for the last few decks and it definitely helps with dialing in tricks. I was swapping trucks, wheels, shapes each new deck before that and having a consistent config is definitely the way to go for me. That being said, I'm also feeling the itch to switch it up for no reason whatsoever. My trucks are whittling down and the minute I see some axle I am going to use it as an excuse to swap to some indys most likely.

was this a mellow deck?

Iteresting to see if there is much or any difference if feel between the two different trucks on what is the same board.

I know between multiple setups I have, I usually mix and match with wheelbase and truck selection to make them mostly the same, so don't really have this kind of mix, but they look awesome.

Gone since 1988.  I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

@Mbrimson88 Yeah, very different. I haven't skated these Thunders in about a year. And even though the Thunders are narrower with way smaller wheels, kick flips were coming way easier on the wider Aces with risers and bigger wheels... Just a timing thing for me, I think.
