Sized down from 9.6" shaped deck to 8" popsicle because my tech game was seriously lacking. Still going to use my big board on transition and the like.

Hockey "Aria" 8.0" x 31.66" with 14" wheelbase
Indy 139 with stock bushings (Gonz 215 baseplates with China hangers)
SML Chris Jones Pencil Pushers 53mm 99a OG Wide
Mini Logo Bearings
MOB
Mini Logo 7/8" hardware

Scrape report after 3-4 hours:

[close]

Board porn. Even the dirt on the wheels looks good.
I don’t understand the gap between the slide marks on your nose & tail and the base plate; I’m also shit on the bloard tho…

Loving this Blind redux/mashup. Never rode a dwindle deck but, how do you like it?

This might be my 6th or 7th Dwindle deck, honestly after skating a bunch of Resin 7 decks its hard to enjoy anything else.
They are super stiff and hold their pop for the life of the board, makes all other woodshops feel weak and soggy.

It helps that I also really like their shapes, most seem to be mellow concave with steep kicks (specified on the top ply). Almost and Blind usually seem quite square while Darkstar and Enjoi are more on the pointy side, at least from my experience.

The quality to price ratio is crazy if you can get over the made in China aspect, each board is single pressed and have like 4 or 5 dyed veneers. Highly recommend if you are curious

Echo the Resin-7 love - The Blind I rode earlier this wear was painfully steep and stiff for the first session but it stayed really snappy and stiff till retirement. It stayed in that sweet spot of worn enough (not too stiff) and razor tail for really long which helped to extend my enjoyment of the deck.

Their steep concave is incredibly steep, their mellow is similar to a medium-mellow on a BBS. Blind / Darkstar have fuller noses but well below a Quasi or FA. I have friend who skates the streets hard and swear by them, won't buy anything from BBS, PS Stix or NHS.

Lots of shops frequently have clearance on Darkstar / Blind decks, but you may have to put up with questionable graphics.

Just beware when you're shopping for the DSM line, they have 3 ranges for difference price points.

Under $40 - PP decks, birch, "Resin PP Construction"
Under $50 - PP decks, 2 plys of maple, 5 plys of birch, called "Resin Hybrid Construction
Above $50 - Resin-7, the good stuff that's worth the money, comes with the Resin-7 imprint

I've also had quite a few great resin 7s. I love their mellow molds, the full and the steep boards don't do it for me, but a dwindle mellow r7 is a pretty damn great board when I can find the right graphic

Probably fewer dyed plys which some would argue affects wood quality. If it's got the R7 stamp you're good.

DSM has been working with smaller brands in Asia to do smaller runs of decks. You'll be surprised to find R7 stamped on brands from China / Indonesia, same quality wood as the US brands.

Two plies dyed black, maybe the top is dyed too but I can remember. Regardless, I absolutely refuse to believe that adding red #40 to a sheet of veneer makes a single difference in the performance of a skateboard. Regardless, that’s good to know. I’m pretty much an R7 convert, and these cheap Globe decks skate beautifully.

Just wanted to echo the Resin-7 hype and say that the Enjoi Thaynan shape I skated was top notch. I was hesitant at first but the quality does stand up to BBS and PS Stix. If you’re  thinking of trying an R7, do it.

Agree w/ the consensus about the R7 quality and value. A tad too stiff for my likings if i'm being picky.

Sometimes Globe with its simpler graphic and monotone colored decks is the more visually appeal choice versus Blind / Darkstar, they look like blanks in most cases, so that's another plus point right there.

What about your drivetrain, wheelbite-wise?

Its not too bad, I tend to get more of a rub than a bite. The marks you can see in the photo are from kinda testing out the limits of the setup before I get into things. My trucks are loose by a lot of peoples standards but not wobbly, helps that I'm only around 150 lbs.
I find I get less bite when I run trucks wider than the board, purely anecdotal but I think that's to do with the bite point being further out to the edge of the deck and thus the truck has a couple more mm of clearance thanks to the boards concave.

I actually fashioned up some 2mm aluminium risers that I use if I'm on fresh wheels or something and biting more. They sit perfectly flush under Thunders but I drilled the holes a bit oversize so you have a bit of wiggle room to line up with other trucks.

Also top view of the deck if anyone was interested:

Yeah, it's one of their "Lines" decks and mounted up with silver Indys and white Spitfires, it's a beautiful skateboard. I'd take one of their graphics over more or less anything I ever see from Enjoi or Blind. It's simple and elegant, not cartoonish and embarrassing.

Enjoi R7 decks are super cheap on Zumies now. If I needed anything, I'd snap up one of those in a second. The aforementioned Thaynan is $40.

If you REALLY don't give a damn about graphics, these are incredibly cheap.

This is not my SOTY. I'm telling my kids there was no SOTY for 2021
