Did a huge spring cleaning thing with a bunch of old skate stuff, and got a whole new complete to replace one I gave away.

Polar Dane Brady Fish Bowl Surf Jr 8.75" x 31.5" with 14.375" wheelbase
Venture 5.8 Hi Max Geronzi
Bones STF Trent McClung V5 99a 54mm
Bones Swiss 6
Jessup
Bones Rib Bones
Mini Logo 7/8" hardware

For those wondering, 8.5" trucks are a perfect match for this shape IMO. The area where the axle hangs is under 8.75": 8.5" at the front and 8.125" at the back according to my measurements. I placed my Venture 6.1 trucks on the board and the axle stuck out too much for me.

I'm absolutely loving this setup. For whatever reason it feels smaller than my previous 8" setup (maybe the length difference?) and I can manipulate the board pretty easily. Here's to hoping Polar doesn't discontinue this shape.

The Pass~Port spade shape is very similar to the surf jr shape and also krooked do one that’s very similar. I feel like polar won’t discontinue this shape because it’s become super popular but it’s nice to know there’s alternatives:)

Cracked the tail on my Anti Hero yesterday, Sad times :(. I love that 8.4 shape, had quite a few of them now.

I've just slapped on another deluxe family freshie ready for next weekends action.

whole new shape for me as I fancied a little more foot room on the nose and tail for my size 12's (us13)

Ended 2021 with way too many barely skated decks so trying to set them back up and run through em.

8.5 DOA (flat as fuck)
5.8
54/101 radial slim

9.0 Orange Eagle
55 Classics
57/99 Big Heads

The DOA is from last spring and had a minor delamination near the tail so I never really skated it. I was fixing something around the house with loctite and just put some in there and clamped it, it skates great now.  AH is from last summer. I put some curb sessions on it but just felt too long when skating anything else. Will mostly be used for pushing around the neighborhood with the kids, hence the big old wheels.

Thank you  :)

Honestly AVEs aren't the best, and definitely not worth $100 (I would only consider getting these on a good sale, which I did). They're really lightweight and the breathability is amazing, but comfort isn't entirely there especially on long days and I'm more used to high tops. That being said, I'm pretty much using them as all around beaters right now and they get the job done.

That is a great top pic with the info.

Any idea where it comes from, if not woodshop, which country?

Also keen to use it (with your info) on the Woodshop thread if that is ok?

Thanks.

Yeah myself and others here ordered maglights last year and were surprised to receive the aluminum baseplates. Seems like they changed this and didn't disclose it anywhere.

I absolutely love the AVE. I find them super comfortable and easy to skate in, they last me for a long time, and the insoles are perfect. Obviously everyone’s feet are different, but they’re probably my overall favorite skate shoe. I bought several pairs from Nordstrom Rack when they were on sale back over Christmas, so I’ll be skating AVEs for the rest of the year at least.

Damn. That sounds like the move, re: sale. I feel like this shoe looks a lot better in mono cw’s, usually without the contrasting sole. The silhouette isn’t too gnarly looking. I mention this as vans greatest attribute in general, imo, is the look, but the Ave pro’s, for me, had a really high level of ‘performance’. Performance not in that I skated noticeably better or anything sweet like that, but that they lasted a long time for me (some really dope skaters I knew blew them out in a few sessions) and felt incredibly stable. I can’t really remember how comfortable they were. I’ve been strictly 1010s for the last year, and those are getting harder to get in decent colors, look less good with an age appropriate pant, and I like to switch shit up too often.
Blah blah I’ll look for a sale.

I only wear skate shoes for skating, otherwise I'm in my boots, running shoes or barefoot (most of the time, I work from home), so I never really feel like I have to love the look of the shoe. But yes, I don't think they're the most aesthetically pleasing shoe. I definitely understand why a lot of people don't like the look, especially the clear sole.

really like that Brady set up. There's noway I could ever guess what shoes you were wearing

Anyways... Sometimes I get drunk on Skate Shop Day and stuff just appears at my doorstep

Christmas of 88 I asked and got a Rodney Mullen set up. skated the shit out of it and eventually traded it for a trail bike with a lawnmower engine and a used H street setup. His friends kept telling him he was crazy

PP Per Welinder
Ace classic 11's
Bones V6 for now probably gonna change them out with some Roller Bones there the closest to the old freestyle wheels
Mob and Jessup I wrote a poem on the grip tape, when I was sober I decided I didn't like it so I redid it with scrap sheets
Bones Swiss and some no names mixed in
I have the skid plates but haven't decided to put them on yet

January 1989 Gleaming the Cube came out and Mike McGill's board magically morphed into a freestyle shape with his graphic and Rodney skating in an abandoned parking garage. I had that part on repeat trying to do the same routine. Did't come close. That's the board I really want. Now I've got to practice

8x31.5 Hz deck, local brand (but actually 7 7/8" when i measured it)
Tensor MagLight 5.25 (somehow with non-mag baseplate & changed stock bushings with Indy hard black barrel bushings)
Spitfire 52mm F4 classics 101
Andale MJ bearings
Indy hex 1" hardware
Indy 1/8" riser (thinking of ditching it soon)
Jessup griptape
[close]

That is a great top pic with the info.

Any idea where it comes from, if not woodshop, which country?

Also keen to use it (with your info) on the Woodshop thread if that is ok?

Thanks.

oh hey thanks for noticing. i did read that boomboomtech got listed in the directory, but my un-educated guess is that BBT is just OEM boardshop that got their deck from China (as well as many other brands here in Malaysia), screen their graphics and stamp their top ply here, which kinda a step above from all the other local brands here.

When did the Maglights start coming polished like that?  I bought a pair this past summer or fall and they are painted.

I always have this board on my list to try out, but seeing it setup makes me want to really get it now. It looks perfect!

Yes, it is certainly interesting to see that amount of detail.

Thanks for the reply!

Heroin Curb Killer 2 egg w/ razortop (10” x 14.625” wb)

Ace 66 classic (on sale for $45 a pair at my local!)

Spit f4 99a classic 53mm

Bootleg Swiss bearings (still going strong)

Jessup

Pig rails (with wood screws from Home Depot after some issues with the Pig screws… pain in the ass)

Indy Philips hardware

First time skating a big dumb egg with small wheels. It’s fun! Great for slappies and fun for some slappy combo tricks. No-complies like a Cadillac.

Wouldn’t want to use it for anything other than curbs and a little bit of park skating tho, it’s too bulky for anything where I need to pop it, and I don’t want to use 53mm classics to roll over crust.

Those who hate on the idea of “curb setups” may be hella triggered.

Also the wheelbase is gigantic and it took some time to get used to but it’s fine now.
