First non-symmetrical board in over a year and my first Baker board ever. Hyped to give this a shot, I haven't skated anything remotely this mellow.

Baker OG shape 8.625
5.8 V-Hollows
F4 54mm 97a radial fulls
Quantum Isotopes
[close]
I know the radial fulls push out the width but venture 5.8s seem like the magical dimension of trucks. I've seen them on everything from 8.125s to now 8.625 and it doesn't look weird. Other 8.5 trucks don't hit the same for some reason. Maybe the triangle hanger has some magical optics.

i skate 5.8s and can confirm that it’s a magical truck

I have not. I keep saying I’m going to get one. Somehow I’ve had multiple ah eagles and real ovals, and don't even like those logo, but no classic baker.

Same here. Always wanted one but I can never find anything 8.25 - 8.5 around here without getting pocket raped.

I had my equivalent as my first "real"  board when I started skating. After 3-ish months on my Sports Authority World Industries complete (department store quality and not skate shop) I used my allowance earned from chores to buy a Baker.

That board was the classic BAKER block letters but in black with green boxes - 7.5"  8)   ahhh, 2006!

Couldn't agree more with y'all. I've even put them on a 9" board and had the best slappies ever going. It's THE truck for me.

That was one of the main reasons I wanted to get one: It's unquestionably one of the most iconic graphics of my skate life. One of those boards I saw in the shop as a grom and always wanted to get, but could never afford. I lucked out with this one and got it for 40€, which is less than half of what they usually go for here.

I had my first session on it yesterday, and wouldn't you know it, I was frontside flipping around my local like a madman. Lots of other stuff I struggled with though, so I've still got to get used to the mellowness.

I had recently turned 12 when I got the WI complete and started skating, so 12 when I got the Baker

I’m a fan of the SC slimline HSR rails as they’re angled to compensate for concave, i.e., your rail surface is always level.

Wasn't an option. The little toy store nearby had pigs. Ronald McDonald colours too. I chose ketchup red.

But yeah those old school SC rails are my favorite.

I like the old Powell ones you use a drill to place. With the rivets.

Also I haven't had a red Baker yet. I always went for their graphics.

Sick set up yo

Quasi JJ acid-ply 2 - 8.25 x 32.15 x 14.25
Thunder hollow light hi IIs - 148mm / standard Independent bushings / Riptide pivot cups
Bones X-formula 97a V1 53mm
Bones riser pads, can't remember the size
Mini-logo bushings
Jessup grip
Generic hardware

The entire setup is working for me, no big complaints. Flip tricks are consistent, pop is solid, turn is solid. No slide issues; I was a bit concerned about that due to the 97a softness plus thunder baseplate slide issues that have been discussed on slap, but it's all good.

Only thing is that the x-formulas feel a bit too soft on smooth outdoor skatepark ground, but I specifically bought them for slippery indoor skatepark ground and they're doing their job. I haven't had any slipouts or anything like I did with my previous 100as. When it gets warmer and the snow melts next year and we're back outside, I'll switch back to the 100as.

That story is great.  I love the maroon 1” head tube old ones I think you’re talking about.  The best track bike I’ve ever owned.  I just switch wheelsets/pedals and can ride fast street or ride in the woods.

8.5 Habitat Apex Twin SW free grip
8.75 royal ultra lights 94a thunder bottom (same height as stock royal) /bones hard *bottom* (as top…same height as royal top).
52mm spit classics / Swiss 6
Bolts

Only one day on it, it’s a beast with those kicks.
Weird bushing combo but the only hard bushings that are the exact height match to stock that are harder than stock that I have on hand aaaaand they feel awesome but more responsive with the conical bottom…usually running Ace hards but they’ve softened up too much now.

I just set up an 8.375 symmetrical habitat. Haven't skated it yet but the kicks are pretty steep. It feels nice when I stand on it. I hope I like it.

Limo Max Palmer 8.5
Venture cast hollow 5.8
Spit F4 54 mm conical
Bones Swiss
Diamond 7/8 allen

Got to try it for like 45 minutes on Saturday, weather hasn't cooperated since.... coming from a Krooked dreamer shape, this is definitely steeper concave and kicks, but it felt pretty good.

Yeah, it's a smaller tail - I measured it and it's about 6 inches in length and 8 inches in width from the starting point of the kick. It could've been whittled down from skating, though. The last Quasi deck I rode was Bobby's debut pro model which I believe was the same size/shape as this one, so maybe it's standard for some of their boards? Not sure haha

Whoa that is gnarly! My eyes werent deceiving me on its length. If it works well, no hate! I'm a longer, more tapered tail kinda guy. I always liked and wanted a Quasi but I think some previous ones I considered had tails like this so it steered me away.
