Gonna try to break in the stock Tensor bushings this time instead of putting in Bones.

Odd angles annoying to grip, nice to have Mob for this deck.

@scab I want a report back! What did/do you think of that deck?
[close]

I only got out once this past week and all I have to report on is one short session at my scooter-infested local... But thus far it's all I've hoped for, and more. I don't know if it's the extra bit of width, the longer nose, or the fact that it's a Label deck and I better live up to that legacy—all I know is that I was absurdly confident on transition right from the get-go. I've had this irrational fear of FS slashes on "bigger" transition (that means 5"± & for me, I'm just starting to get the hang of it), but I somehow did one the first time I took a turn at the big quarter without even thinking about it. Then I did a whole bunch of them and they felt goooood.

tl;dr: The Label 8.75 is tue truth.

Also re: classic fulls, I randomly found at set of old stock at a discount and got them just to see what the fuss was about. And as I've said before, although I'll defend the functionality of big wheels to the death I fully admit that nothing will ever top the timeless look of a 51-53mm classic shape. So in my heart of hearts I was hoping I could make them work for me. Alas, it's simply not to be. I can only skate them on flawless ground, of which there is pretty much none here in North-West Europe. I'd send the set over to you as a sign of gratitude for putting me on to the Label deck, but as I've recently learned in the idiosyncracies thread you only skate white wheels, and they're black... Sucks to be us both I guess  ;).
[close]

I laughed and smiled at this post. 10/10. Would read again. :)

Glad you like the deck so far! Black wheels! MUST FLEE!!!

@scab I want another follow-up on how you’re liking / dislike this deck.
[close]

@Sedition  I'm still very much in love with it. So much so that when I took a bad slam bombing a little hill on Saturday – because I'm a dumbass and thought I could make it over a patch of gravel on my cute little 54mm wheels – my first thought was "that was such a Black Label thing to do!"

Mildly graphic proof of my stupidity:

Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

If I had to complain about something, I'd point out that the deck is actually more of a 8.62 than a 8.75, at least when I'm measuring it But I honestly don't care what the numbers say because it just feels perfect. I've also realized that I actually like a longer, bigger nose. Which is a little madness-inducing because I'm usually on symmetrical boards... And speaking of that, after several years on twins I do find it annoying that I can't just do any and all tricks in a line without having to think about whether or not the board is facing the right direction. That's a very small price to pay for how much fun it's been overall though. I really hope it'll last me another solid couple of weeks, maybe even a month.

First, glad you like it. I'd feel kind of bad/guilty if you didn't.

Second, looks like you got banged-up a bit! Yikes!

I imagine the mag x flight combo makes it feel like a smaller board weight wise. Super interesting setup

Thanks guys!

Shaped boards look super cool to me, they should republish that Disposable book.. But often they have no nose to speak of or are too long or difficult to skate in some other way. This deck addresses both of those issues which is why I'm stoked on it.

First time trying Flight, good pop painful shinners. I dunno, maple wood is a pretty good material IMO.

And indeed Mags to even out the weight of the bigger board.

Been skating this board for a couple of weeks.  Was kind of bummed to see it chipping already.  Nothing crazy just small chips in odd spots.  I’m not a hucker or anything crazy so it’s not normal for me to really chip my board.  Lemme know if you see the same thing.

Rest assured that I owe you a skate gear nerd debt for introducing me to that deck. And yeah, after a couple of days I can report that taking care of my 14 month old with a chunk of flesh missing from my dominant hand does indeed suck. Something something about the consequences of my own actions...

To get this thread somewhat back on track, here's the current iteration of my ongoing mission to build a functional cruiser / regular skating hybrid set-up:

9.25 Heroin egg
160 Lurpivs
58mm F4 93 radials
Quantum Isotopes

Verdict: Leans too much toward the cruiser end of the spectrum to skate normally – very high, squirrely loose trucks and big wheels make it super fun to get to the spot but I've got nothing once I'm there. The quest continues.

My version of that? The 8.75 DLX with 93a Radials.

this feels like the way:

biggest setup i can live with once i get to the spot (for me this is either some goldilocks amalgamation of dimensions and components, or a short ish 8.5), and then some softer wheels.
i’ve dragoned, and those are weird at the skatepark. getting to the skatepark is nice tho. so i’m either going to need to backpack some wheels in, or try the 93s when they become available near me.
as an aside, i need/want to start going to the skatepark more, ive stopped doing that

Just got some X97 and they are much better at the park than 93A Dragons but still pretty good on the way. The much-maligned-on-slap old formula Spitfire F4 97A have also done me well on all kinds of surfaces.

I hope people are enjoying their new ishod lock ins, but for the life of me I CANNOT get over how they look.

The asymmetrical look is so jarring to me. Especially when going from one end of the wheel shape spectrum all the way to the complete opposite.

I love mine, they work amazing and from my pov while skating they look like classics which is my preferred wheel aesthetically speaking.
If you spend too much time looking at them is because you're not spending enough time skating them probably.
Sir, I'm going to politely, but firmly, ask you and your common sense to leave this establishment.

I slightly disagree: it looks like the tip of a crudely drawn penis that I still draw on the walls of gas stations and truck stops.
