Wasn’t super stocked on the set-up I was riding before so thought about mixing things up a bit to hype me up.
Got this Deck on the Polar web store sale a few months ago in hopes I get the same fun feeling riding P9s years ago. I’ll see how it goes tomorrow…

Polar 1991 Jr (8.625 at the widest point)
Shake Junt grip
Venture 5.8 V-Lights w/ DIY V8 hole pattern
Spitfire F4 99a conical 53mm
Bones bushings meds
Bones big balls (no shields)
Bronze Allen 7/8 hardware
Adidas Busenitz Vintage

That Polar shape looks so rad. You think it can work with 8.25 trucks? I have some Thunder 148s lying around and don't feel like buying new trucks. What’s the width like at the front and back truck if you don't mind me asking?

And for years I saw they Spitfire packaging that says, they make the 99a Conicals in 53mm but I only ever saw and got them in 52 and 54mm. So, at least there is proof now, that the 99 Conicals really exist in 53mm. Now I can try to find some.

If the taper is similar to the 1991 Sr, then you’d for sure be fine with 148s. Can’t speak to the Jr with a ton of confidence though.

Did a review of our upcoming shop shape The "Cassette Couch"
*Meant to say 8.5 over the back truck.

once the current shop decks run low , well have a limited run of these with new graphics.

Nicely done.

just my 2 cents: i had 148/ 8.25 trucks on my SURF JR and tey looked weird at the front. on the back they were fitting due to the taper so i went with 149s/ 8.5 trucks. But if you hve the smaller trucks laying around just slap them on there and have fun with it!

148s will work fine. I had the P9 years ago (which is a super similar shape) on Indy 144s and it worked, I actually did some of my best skating in that set-up. Front truck is a bit magic carpet but not too bad, guess you’ll flip it faster if anything. My tip would be to add like 3 speed rings on the inner side of the wheel to compensate.
And yeah the F4 99a conical 53mm is a bit of an unicorn. I was searching it online since forever and then randomly found it on my local back home, took them in a heartbeat. Conical is my fav shape, really underrated, conical full is way more common to find but too wide for me.

Still pretty christmas-ish, only skated flatground twice with it(in the middle of a move)

Easy rider 8.5
Pepper xg
Hollow cast 159s
Shortys 1" Allen
1/8" Indy risers
F4 60mm 99a classics
Bones reds big balls

Defo shoulda put Aces on this, gonna pick some up when my shop gets their shipment in. Get that pop angle as close as I can to my main/regular board(cast indys and 54's)

you could go with slappys/no risers and would get similar wheelbite characteristics to ace w/risers, and it would likely feel more similar to your main setup. i ride 60mm wheels on slappys/no riser and it works great!

Slappys are pretty awesome because of that. And I can still get very good turn with them. I havent ridden me Aces in months since I got Slappys.

Lateral move

Losers 8.25 south central
Slappy hollows
Bones skins 52mm
Bones Swiss
7/8 phillips hardware
Some clearance grip tape with anime on it

I bought this tool off this dude on instagram chomp_on_grip. I became interested in the die-cut grip on 80s and 90s kmart boards. I was considering going to a maker space to laser cut it. Overkill probably. anyway much cleaner examples on instagram https://www.instagram.com/chomp_on_grip/tagged/

this was my first time using it

Baker 8.25” OG shape, mellow concave
Venture V8s
Spitfire 53mm F4 conical 101s
Shieldless Swiss
Bronze
Pepper

Cons CTAS mids

I’m on a mission to only skate this shape for the rest of the year to add some consistency to my skate life.  Feels like a normal skateboard shaped skateboard that I grew up on.

Love the dark green ply with the black, but with V8 tucked in I can't imagine growing up skating 8.25, 7.2" nose, and a 13.7 WB. Ben D did an interesting vid on late 90s shapes and I was surprised at the measurement.

The sparkly real deck exploded on the first session which was unexpected and sad

Re-gripped an older sparkly blue eagle I had in the garage

Here's the 149's/54mm wheels against the 159's/60mm wheels

Hanger grind space is the same and it feels proportionate

The 60's are fast and I'm enjoying it, and seem to be able to do everything I normally can, maybe with a little more effort

Thanks! Your son has good taste lol I’ve been skating thunders with a 14” WB deck and radials for awhile now. I might try the 8.25 palace shape once my local has it in stock again

There is two 8.25 shapes on palace.  A 14wb and a 14.25wb.
I really like the one here. It has a 14"wb. Palace had it as a 14.25wb. But that was an error on their part.
