Are the basalt plys on the top and bottom? Let us know how it feels, I liked dbx but the dims for the 8.25 short seem in line with what I like

They're like layered in there, I think there's 6 plys of wood and 3 sheets of the cross-hatched basalt stringers. So it's normal wood on top and bottom ply. It's a lil bit thinner than a normal board. In my experience they're not any stronger than a regular board but this deck was a Christmas present and I bought the rest of the stuff for myself

Ahh that makes sense. I saw two dark plys at the top and bottom and mistook it. Sounds like standard basalt which is cool. I liked the one dbx board I had so I might just cop to try something different when I get back on board

Girlfriend's first setup

• Krooked Una true fit 8.25 x 13.88 wb
• Pepper g5
• Modus 7/8 Allen
• Indy 144 hollow standards (with my already-broken-in aftermarket oranges in there)
• Gave her my other set of bones swiss 6. Put a lil speed cream in there and put the shields back on.
• Powell G-Slides 56mm 85a, which she asked me to remove the graphics from.

She knew she wanted a shorter board with a sweet graphic and cruiser wheels, and didn't really care about the rest. I'm glad I had my old Indy bushings to pop in there so they're already good to go and don't need breaking in.

Originally I was gonna set it up kinda like my rain board, to protect it and make it last longer, and ordered seismic tail skids and 1/8" risers. We talked about it and we're just like, fuck it. She said she doesn't care if the board gets fucked up anyway. Plus the 150mm size skids I ordered were slightly too wide, so at least I know to order the 140mm egg ones for my rain board

Awesome set up! I recently started skating with my girlfriend as well and it's been great. Has definitely made me realise how hard it actually is to teach someone to skate.

This is her set up when she just got it:

Almost HYB 8"
Thunder Ish Pro 147
Orbs Pugs Conical 85a 54mm
Mini Logo Bearings
Shmucks Philips 1"
Madness Riser Pads
Mob Grip

Christmas complete lol

BBS Basalt 8.25" x 14" wb
Pepper g5
Modus 7/8 Allen
Indy standard 144 with blue 92a conical bushings
Bones swiss 6, dry, no shields
Spitfire f4 'lil softies' 95a classic 52mm

Hmm, this setup is kinda tempting. With wider wheels for sure but on the photo, the wheels still look pretty flush with the deck though.
Just a bit worried about switching from a mellow Baker to the Brolic shape, especially since the Brolic isn’t exactly cheap around here.

Pepper Galaxy
Just a fun setup to dork around.

Baker TFunk 8.75

Bones Swiss Ceramics
Pepper Galaxy
Main setup right now. Having much fun on 8.75 deck with short wheelbase.

Quasi 8.5
Thunder Team hollows 149
Spitfire F4 Classics 53
Bones Swiss
Pepper Galaxy
I usually ride 8.5 but not that happy with the Quasi shape sadly.

Deathwish 8.25
Venture 5.6
Spitfire F4 Classics 52
SKF Bearings Alexis
Pepper Galaxy
Had too much stuff lying around so another fun setup for the days when im too exhausted for bigger setups.

Most of the stuff is pretty new since i didnt get too many sessions in the last weeks. The weather was disgusting in Germany but its starting to get better now.

Everything about this is dope especially the salba deck. Also love that big baker setup @fitspire. I was considering that deck for my 6.1s and I still am

2nd setup for rougher spots. RIP Van.

Krooked Van Wastell reissue 8.25 true fit shape
Venture 5.6 V8s
Spitfire 97 Delfino’s 55mm
Sunday shieldless
Mob
Shorty’s 7/8 Allen

This true fit is damn short so I only put the back truck in for a longer tail. It felt way too short and unstable with both trucks in. Van was on Venture at one point so that’s cool. He also was a fan of softer wheels according to his TWS checkout (Gonz quote).

I have a love hate relationship w the true fit 8.5. on paper it's everything I want, but in practice it's too short. And I'm a short guy. But I guess growing up on 14.25 made that more comfy for me. With the true fits I have to hang way too much in the back seat. Shit even with v lights and their max wheelbase the true fits feel short.

Now I just wanna rewatch vans gnar gnar clips

I thought I would be a fan of the 8.5 True Fit for the reasons above. And for the reasons above it was not for me. I did like the length…

i had one true fit, and it really didn’t work for me. it was 2, so steeper than i like, but i couldn’t make the board work for me at all.
for context, i do not mind short boards, and can adjust to skating a 7.5x31 fairly quickly. i figured a wider short board would be the ticket.
i’m not sure if the off feelings were down to the mold used….dunno.

i am very stoked that dlx has made boards for more body types than just the typical, that’s cool.

quasi jake johnson. leard who jake johnson was so thats cool. never really stoked on the graphic but it was the one i nthe shop i disliked the most/least?. i had swore off quasi cause last one i had desaladinated after skating in the rain twice, but this one has been through hell and back and still has plenty of live, its fcked cause ever since i seen that one thread i can see the angle of my pop. been skating very bad on this board but i doubt its the board fault, looking forward to some fresh grip tho
good sig coming soon

I go back to the 8.25 True Fit every now and then. With forged 5.6 Ventures, it feels nice and snappy for flatground stuff and ledges. My ollies always feel good when I skate it. Not really an ATV setup, though. Might try it again soon.

My friend's board built entirely out of my old stuff

I gave them these trucks in summer 2023, I bought them in 2020.  Their board was destroyed so I gave them one of my blanks.  Then it was their birthday the other day so I hooked up some more stuff since we've been skating in my garage drinkin beers cause it's winter in Alaska.  So at this point it's funny cause their whole setup is just all my old shit
