RIP Kurt Hayashi
« on: January 27, 2020, 05:04:57 PM »

I know there’s a pinned thread above but the title could be misleading. Hate to be the bearer of bad news but it seems as though Kurt had another stroke and is no longer with us. Huge loss to the skate world at large. Kurt was truly one is the nicest most genuine people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. Rest easy big guy.

RIP Big ups to the people who donated. Strokes are terrifying.

Side note: people are saying two in one day in the comments on Burnett's post and mentioning Rodney. Anyone know what that's about?

Rodney Smith passed away as well. He was a former TM for World Industries and had a lot of other roles as well if I'm not mistaken.

I still remember a quote from Rodney in I believe SBC - when asked who his hero is, he replied, "If you can get through life, you are a hero." That always stuck with me. Rest in peace to both.

Kurt was a great guy. I worked in camera sales rims ago and got him cost on some century optics he loved. Always positive and smiling and had a wonderful smile. I can still see him waiting for me at the counter to talk lenses. He loved Lance Mountain (who doesn’t) and Lance was a loyal friend til the end from what I know. A real bummer. Hope his kids can get through a horrible loss like this .

Yeah, man.  It can happen at anytime.  I’m an RN on neuro ICU unit and I can tell you this is all too common.

Damn was coming here to ask for some of his work. That Cal's Pharmacy video was huge for me during my first few skate years (That Phil Trotter part, with the Jerry and Louie New Order song). RIP Mr Hayashi.

i was fortunate to help Kurt with some video stuff a few times, and he was always the absolute nicest.
he really loved this shit, like we do.

the first news was crushing enough, but this is truly horrible.  i feel so bad for his family.

RIP Kurt Hayashi

Had the pleasure of meeting him once, the first time I went to skate the SB park.  I was super nervous and chatted a bit, he made me feel beyond welcome and I had one of the best sessions on my life.  RIP thank you for being so kind.
