Retro-Rockabilly (or punk-abilly, psychobilly or just about anythign -abilly) is a pretty goddamn cringe-worthy genre (outside of the Cramps, of course).

However recently heard a few bands that definitely sound good these days... enough energy and fury without the ridiculous greaser-cliches.

The Gravediggers 'Move It' (this came out in '89) on Crypt

and new French band Chrome Reverse, featuring garage-punk goddess Lily Zeller (Grandpa you ever hear this?)

Well Im drunk and high, and i was thinking how everyone involved in this video and making of it was in elementary school while I was out of high school, and its wild how they just take influence from the older generation and just take it to new levels n shit. Its pretty cool man, i cant wait to see what or how fucked the young kids taking notes from this generation of young folks is gonna be. Fuckin evolution is goin pretty quick, its fuckin cool to see.

Is Alexander Nevsky an enjoyable film for a child of the 90s like myself? I've been meaning to watch it but I'm lazy. Battleship Potemkin fucked me up, though, so I imagine a newer FILM would be good on my book. But I'm worried the subtext will fly over my non-Russian head.

New PC worship album "Buried Wish". This is the first I've heard from this band and I thought it was a pretty solid album. Reminded me a lot of the Sic Alps if anyone is familiar with them, but a little more weird at times. There are points on this album where it sounds like everyone is playing something different, and although it's not very melodic, it still works in a strange way. ^ This is the last track and I think the title "Tranquil Pain" along with the album cover perfectly sum up with this albums sounds like. It's the perfect ending to the album.

Listening to their earlier stuff now and its pretty good too. A bit heavier though.

man , last couple weeks have been fucked .

i used to emcee in a hip hop trio that played around lb , but i haven't written a bar since shit went sour with some old friends . been learning some old hip hop tunes on piano and trying to rap over them while playing keys - nujabes/2pac/tribe n shit . . i'll share something in the "post your music" thread for constructive/honest(brutal) criticism soon

this made me feel really good today :

hope everyone on earth is doing fine and making the best of their time with good fam&friends ~

Haha right on! Back in my very earliest formative skate rat days I was listening to Devo heavily.  The Ohio scene was sort of an early under appreciated mecca of punk, and Hardcore Devo is an interesting historical compilation. I always got a kick out of "Bamboo Bimbo" off of Volume. 2.

In ode to Devo, all things Proto-punk, and Ohio I gotta post some Pere Ubu!

this is a pretty sick article I read a few weeks ago that goes into early devo and this whole weird scene that they inspired. its a good read and some of the bands they mention are really great. ive been really big into the uranium club and the coneheads lately. definitely give them both a listen if you havent before.

Killer! I only just started listening to Uranium Club within the past month and a half or so!

Coneheads I absolutely love! They have a bunch of great live sets posted up on youtube, and from the first time I ever heard "I Used to be a Cheesepuff" I've wanted to film a curb sesh/slappy video part to it.

Gonna check that article when I get a moment.
