An album called "Paraiso" by Haruomi Hosono.  Then i played my plants "Watering a flower" another album by the same artist. "Paraiso" is a pretty dance-y album and apparently is on spotify.

I was reminiscing on songs I remember listening to when I was a kid, and this one came to mind.

yeah man, i know the original, but i've been bumping this version lately, i think it's pretty good as well. i play in a sort of hobby funk/dub/whatevs cover band and we decided to cover the brothers johnson cover. two band members are massive louis johnson(the bassist) fans. he died 2015.

funny you mentioned banned in d.c., we sometimes spontaneously start to cover big take over mid session. one band member who is a lifelong reggae head but kind of oblivious to punk was super stoked to find out about the bad brains at age 40 something. when two of us first started playing bad brains one night we thought he'd know, he actually thought we'd try to play a motörhead song.

Kind of thought you might have known that.  You know HR did a reggae album called "Charge" and its damn good, (tracks "shame in dem game" or "charge").  His band was sick, theres a concert on yt of him and his band performing most of the album live.

I listened to "coyote" live by Joni mitchell with bob dylan siting in on rythm.  Her lyrics and singing make my eyes well up.   Also "skinheads smoke dope" -my favorite song by Fang i think.

Now im bumping this one. Its got real retro getups , the solo rips, and the harmonies between the oboe/clarinet(?) and violin are killerrr

Fuck me man. "Lit up" woodstock 99 by Buckcherry was in my suggested list.  -its a really good rock performance, i had previously just assumed i hated that band.

Mix of the day: Boards of Canada

In honor of Warp Records' 30th anniversary, they've put together a two-hour mixtape of "mind-melting offbeat psychedelia."
