Saw on twitter that allegedly the entire Bareback woodshop walked off the job after one of the employees died from COVID-19 complications. Ergo, a potential DLX wood shortage.

It's a pretty stark reminder that this pandemic is still killing people and eventually the circle will get smaller for people as it begins to affect those closer to us.

Kinda glad I went overboard buying product from the local shops when the Rona first hit.

Same. I have three sets of wheels and three boards still unopened.

Since it appears this is true, I think I'll be grabbing that Habitat board from work tomorrow, non-dyded bottom layer be damned! It's a BBS one on the same shape I usually ride. Still have a Jenny after the Alien I'm currently riding as well, but I'm stocking up to be safe. I have a hard enough time finding my shape when things are normal.

It's been an interesting buying experience in the UK here over the last month or two.

Shoes, for me at least, have been easy enough - DC Cupsole for under £40 delivered. I'm sorted there.

Boards and other hardware has been a crapshoot.
Trying to find an 8.125 in my preferred shape / wood has been nigh on impossible for a decent price.
So many of my usual online shops (no local skate store) have only the dregs or the premium priced decks (£55-£65 and up) that I'm not willing to pay right now.

It's been kinda fun in a way. Instead of buying a new set of trucks, I'm fully refreshing my under carriage with
-new bearings (Bones Reds)
-new bolts (1" Allen)
- new Bones Hardcore (hard) bushings.
- new axle nuts and washers

I ended up getting a shop deck for the first time since about 2005, it purports to have a more pointed nose -something I'm really partial to and why I've been riding Birdhouse/Baker DW decks alot over the last year.
I'm going to argue that Placebo owes their entire career to a Canadian dude's skate video part. Appleyard should be getting royalties for this shit.

A couple weeks ago Minilogo got a large shipment of boards and sent lots to shops and put some on their website and I checked today and all the decks and even all the wheels they got in June are all sold out already.
But shops have been getting their shipments of the decks over the last week.

I have about a dozen decks and half dozen sets of wheels. Couple that with 4 sets of trucks that are practically new and about 8 pairs of blazers.

Only have about 7 sheets of MOB grip though so I might have to use that Jessup at some point.

Yeah we got a huge order of that stuff a week ago. I totally forgot they're not even maple, but birch. I love how most of us on here are semi-neurotic about getting the exact right board shape etc and you're just fine with skating birch skateboards and virtual Walmart trucks. Lol. Boggles my mind but everyone has their own preferences.

Next time STF's are on sale I'm stocking up.
That was silly of me not to have done so when they were £10 discounted.

Hahh, this rules. I have three FA/Hockey decks, a set of wheels, and a slew of Vans authentic and Authentic pros. I've been skating a lot more and am actually wearing stuff in to a point where I can justify having a ton of skate stuff.

Where are you seeing that they are birch?
The labels on my boards say maple and I’ve been told the maple comes from the Great Lakes region US.
If they aren’t maple, that’s news to me.

Think this drought will come in waves.

Cold calls about board stashes.

Manufacturers only producing setups.

Small board companies banding together. UK skate co-op.

Infrequent changes to graphics, a return to late eighties “pro graphic”.

Buying more than one deck at a time.

Per customer deck purchase limits.

Graphics printed over other companies graphics and or companies that go under and sell off remaining stock.

And eventually if it gets really bad, professionals skating other companies boards.

$33 for 2 pairs!! Actually let me pontificate on what my wheels are. They are Bones 100s not any formula. I tried flatspotting them for 2 days when I first got them. All good. A couple days ago was doing lipslides on a concrete ledge with no wax on top but it was going so I didn't use any wax. I ended up with flatspots after that so yeah they aren't perfect but they were honestly $16.

Ahhhh, they must have tiers to it. All the different Mini Logo boards/completes we have are birch, says so right on the label.

“Crazy” they called me, when I panic-purchased 5 decks with a chunk of my COVID stimulus check.
“He’s gone mad” they said, when I bought multiple sets of trucks.
“Perhaps we should intervene” they wondered, when I stocked up on four sets of F4s & a couple sets of Bones Swiss.
Well who’s crazy now?!?

I know, I know... it’s still me.
But at least this nut-job will be set up for a while.

This is me all the time.
Absolutely agree with this, did the same with 2 pro decks and some shop decks along with wheels and griptape, I've been refurbishing some beat up decks, took a sanding wheel to get rid of razor tail it's a bit short buttttt beats having nothing.

Have you tried them yet?
Curious about that extra chip in the nose & tail.
Actually add life to the tips, or increase odds of chipping?
Thanks in advance.

Yeah man. I have used two legend fg top decks(one H-street branded) and one with smart rails and pop wedge. Theyre every bit as good as generator and are pro level decks...No delamination. Legends build quality is as good or better than the big shops.

Looks like this as it wears. Dont think it makes a sgnificant difference but theyre very poppy and last longer than say a ps stix

Checked the site, but nothing in my size/shape at present (not like I need more.)
I will for sure keep them on my radar for when the well runs dry.

I'm probably about to buy my first Baker deck since I was like 15 because I can't find shit out there. Anybody rode one recently? Hows their wood these days?

Baker uses BBS, same as half the industry. They do a lot of mellow concaves with pointy shapes, but I just had one that was a nice blunt 8.38 with deep concave. Don't trust the stickers on the boards though - I work in a shop and have seen the same stickers on multiple shapes, ie: one graphic printed on multiple shapes but using the same "OG Shape" sticker. I've seen variance in just about every brand - just got a Birdhouse Raybourn for that exact reason. We have 5 and two of them are completely different shapes but have the same sticker. If you're ordering online I don't know what to tell you - I could never do that. I'm far too picky.

Legend are for sure good decks. Made in Vacaville California about 30 minutes from the bay area.

glances nervously as stack of 15 brand new boards

I'm not sure that's enough, I would add at least 6 more boards, 3 sets of wheels and some Bone Swiss bearings just to be safe.
