True. Any static is worth buying. Same with sabotages or eastern exposures.

Serious answer: Spirit Quest. Possibly one of the best skate videos of the last 2 decades, and the last truly unique video for a long time. If you find a copy, buy it!

Or DM Colin and get a digital download for like $10 or something. @mandibleclaw
Absolutely worth it and 100% of your money goes to the filmmaker.
If you only pay money for one video, make it Spirit Quest.
Warm Up Zone. Let's watch some skateboarding videos.

I remember being so happy after bringing home Photosynthesis and watching it for the first time. I was unsure but the shop made me buy it. They also convinced me to buy Modus Operandi because they said it was better than Feedback and The Reason. I’d watch a video everyday for a month til the next thing came out so I got my moneys worth.

Isn't it crazy how there was a time when videos like Fully Flared and MindField were like $30 at my local shop, and you could have gone to Best Buy and gotten the Lord of the Rings Return of the King for like $20.

I'm no accountant, but the cost for vans, cameras and Motel 6's can't be more than the cost of filming epic battle scenes with Viggo Mortensen and Orlando Bloom.

Way more people buy movies than skate vids. A semi-decent movie has at least broke even in the box office, so dvd sales were just bonuses.

The financials behind skate videos are still somewhat secretive but you can imagine that Lakai needed Fully Flared to sell well on dvd and create a boon in shoe/softgood sales for it to be considered a success. Which of course dictated their price.

In the Final Flare, they say they spent something like a million dollars on Fully Flared. I wonder if they made a profit on it.

Even though half the FF roster bounced for more money, crail was still crazy enough to take another 5 years to make a vid. That tells me they probably made a slight profit.

I remember pre-ordering Sorry for so many months in advance and I probably have watched it several hundred times in my life, so quite worth it. Watched Mosaic a similar amount of times as well.
My DVD copy of Sorry is one of my pried possesions haha its not worth much, but i watched that video a few hundred times easily. to this day its the only company DVD i have ever bought.

Couldn't  agree more. I got this as a birthday present for my brother and it's sublime. Also been buying the idabble vms as they come out which are pretty cheap and enjoyable.

Cannot back spirit quest enough, I bought a copy back when it came out and still watch it bi-monthly (at least). Also, any copy of Ipaths summer preview is worth the dough!

This is why it has value. You can get the special editions that come with photo books and extras. The photos/extras have value but, the video itself will probably be online any day.
Nothing I do deserves more than an iphone camera.
