General question, who is making the flattest blank?

Interested in seeing what thats all about. I regret not snapping up a FAF when you could still get them.
[close]
They're not fully blank but Mini Logo decks are really flat. I know Steve from DOA rode them for a while after DOA closed and made a couple of youtube videos about them.

I was going to reply that it would be good to know for the Woodshop thread too, but I copied those two vids to the other thread anyway and asked there too, just in case others have a good response, which I can repost here too.

Thanks for those videos.

IMO control was. I have had a control board in a minute. Tgm CANADA made moose decks are control, but the last one I had felt short. Short wheel base maybe? They have good customer service. So you could email them about the specs

Ditto on the flatness of their blanks, their tails lack any concave which makes a medium deck feel even mellower, in addition to sounding "water logged".

Also curious how many boards do you guys (or anyone else) get at a time from skatesamples.com as when I checked it was way better to get more to keep costs down, but I also know that a lot of people don't have a few hundred to throw around easily like that for a box or more of boards at a time.

At least that could be a once a year purchase if you got enough in one shipment, or last a fair while for people who go through more than one or two boards a month anyway.
[close]

I ordered four boards and four sheets of grip. Total with shipping was $142.89 or $35.72 per board with grip. It definitely makes more sense to bulk purchase from them because the shipping cost goes up slightly with each board but the overall per board price will go down. I paid $16.89 for shipping on that order but if I put one board and one sheet of grip in my cart now it gives me a shipping cost of $15.12 for a total of $46.12. They ship from California and I'm in Arizona so shipping costs are probably higher for those living further away.

When I checked via their site for any number of boards delivered to Australia, the shipping was actually a higher cost than the cost of the boards, but that is also to be expected with their prices and the cost to get them from CA all the way round the world to here.

At least ten boards worked out to be a reasonable price, given the exchange rate and all things considered, but I didn't go ahead with the order and it still works out better to go through wholesalers for anyone with shop access.

For everyone else though, I could see it being great if you like a particular shape and don't care for graphics, etc.

Good to know your local costs within USA too.

Braille has PS Stix blanks. Ordered an 8.1 just now and requested a pink top ply. Hopefully they honor the request.

Bougth 2 gfbs last year. Shipping was 74,90 to germany Ending up at 122,85 in total. I purposely stayed below 150 becaus of customs. Can't get the shape anywhere else and at ~60 per deck it is still cheaper than most standard popsicles in germany.
I guess for me this made sense with this shape for a standard popsicle idk. Might order 5 or 10 pack in the next days since i love that shape and i fear it getting discontinued...

I can definitely understand that purchase, when you just can't get that shape and board anywhere else, it is worth it for sure.

At least checking the shipping calculator and doing the mix and match with different numbers of boards to see what it comes out to, it is good to get a fair idea of costs before you jump in to placing an order.

.

I posted this in the Twin shapes thread, but also adding here, in case people have experience with one or both of these boards:

.

Has anyone skated the DLX egg 9.12 shape?

I have seen it around, as per link below, which is stated to have the same kicks, but nowhere it says is a twin shape, so I am guessing it is a normal press board, different kicks just the same length.

The Generator GFB shape also 9.1 egg is also in that category, maybe a twin or at least has the same 6.6 kicks, but it has slightly different dimensions, 14.38 wb and under 32 in length, so guessing it was slightly different from the go but is fairly similar overall though.

cross post from the woodshop thread

europe based skateboard deck manufacture that sells packs of blanks (3, 5, 10)

i recently bought a 3-pack of blanks from a polish manufacture called locals. i ordered the 8.3s, which are 32 inch long and have a 14.25 wheelbase. i'm pretty sure that they use one mold for their blanks so every size has that wheelbase. they are pretty cheap, 3 boards cost 400zł shipped which is about 100 dollars, but you have to buy griptape separately. they are pretty mellow, labeled as medium, pretty similar to the dsm mellow concave/steep kick but with flatter kicks. round nose and tail, definitely not pointy but not square either, nose a hair over 7 inches, tail around 6.7. i only skated one of them so far but it's over 3 weeks old and still holds up, it's pretty snappy for an old board and didn't chip or crack or anything. the dude that runs the manufacture (og polish skater) has been doing it for over 12 years and the boards weren't all that good at first but seems like he got it down. if you're in europe and into blanks then check em out

https://localsskateboards.com/

some photos:

the board 2 sessions in, set up with venture 5.8s and 58mm classics

shape w grip

the whole stack, brand new

i know he also does orange, purple and natural stains for his blanks, but looks like black is the most common. those are two different shades though, one has like a green tint and the other has a red tint. a homie ordered another 3 pack and he got 2 blacks and an orange. if you want to see the concave dm me and i'll take some photos and send them to you on insta or something, i don't want to fuck around with imgur again

SW has some new, “premium” blanks up.

https://www.skatewarehouse.com/Skate_Warehouse_Skateboard_Decks/catpage-DKSKATEWARE.html

Made in the U.S.A

Measures true across the...board. No discerning markings of note.

Nice shape, rounded/slightly full nose, just a hint of taper on the tail. Feels just a tad thicker/heavier than an equally sized Toy Machine/PS stix.

Yup. Full natural, orange middle ply....throwing on some silver/raw trucks w/white bushings, white wheels AND white-azz grip (I have no idea why I went with white grip).

Thats a nice low-key touch going with the single orange mid-ply to match their color scheme.

Isn't HLC based in Spain? They have a shop/press here in the US?

Put some time on the SW blank this weekend; works great, no better or worse than your average BBS deck (tho I'd say it feels a bit crispier than BBS boards).

Good shape, good pop, normal kick wear, good price (hard to beat at the $31 sale price with free grip) and if it does weigh more, can't tell when skating it.

Other than supporting a pro/company you want, if money is tight or you want to experiment and not spend the $$ I'd say these are a great deal, espcially the dims (compared to other blanks out there).

.

I thought I saw a press release or something about it, but can't find it right now.  Maybe it was an article in an online publication, more so business news type of thing.

HLC have a woodshop up and running in USA, of which it seems like these are some of the first offerings, maybe more so just to get things going and from all accounts, they are doing well.

No other info to add, but I didn't really look very hard either.

Defintely feels different [thicker/heavier] than the Roger I have on hand, SW blank being a PP, I wouldn't think twice about it; if memory servers if feels more like the last PlanB I rode (also HLC).

The SW are HLC. A friend called up and asked. Also the lazer etchings look sorta like the same general arrangement as I've seen on a few others, namely a Sour I had. Board was good, my only complaint with HLC is that I wish they did more than 2 molds (at least that are commonly sold) as it seems they just have a few dims they cut from the mold.

Just got my box from skatesamples. They look amazing. Not wrapped (which is no problem they’re stored under my bed in a box so it’s pretty climate controlled). None are warped and the measurements are spot on.

One thing I’ll say is they’re much flatter than I was expecting from generator which is a good thing for me. I have two Brian Anderson guest There boards. Ones a 4 and ones a 2. It’s pretty much flat on the 4 and significant light showing on the 2. The kicks are still fairly steep.

Just wanted to mention the flatness of anyones looking for mellow decks. Maybe it’s different from order to order but all five that I got are on the mellow side

Good luck trying to find those dimensions on any brand let alone a blank. The only 10" popsicle I've seen under 15" wb is this Heroin deck. You could always sand off the graphic.

I'm aware it's a unicorn, hence why I'm asking cause I've done plenty of digging to try finding one. Hopefully DLX comes out with the one TNT posted on his IG, I'll buy them forever. I actually skated that dead Dave deck and it was rad, just prefer blanks always.

I wish Skatesamples did twin shapes, not the Ishod twin tails but the Foy twins. That would end my board madness for sure.

Anyone have a 10" popsicle blank source that I can order just one?

Not fully blank but 35th ave has these

My bad I forgot to mention shorter wheelbase. Those ones are long at 15".

Good luck trying to find those dimensions on any brand let alone a blank. The only 10" popsicle I've seen under 15" wb is this Heroin deck. You could always sand off the graphic.

Or if you have a router and some skill you could trying making something close to it. You even have wb options.

I'm aware it's a unicorn, hence why I'm asking cause I've done plenty of digging to try finding one. Hopefully DLX comes out with the one TNT posted on his IG, I'll buy them forever. I actually skated that dead Dave deck and it was rad, just prefer blanks always.
If DLX does release a 10" Trujillo you can be certain it will have a graphic and not be a blank

Don't think I've had a blank in decades. I always try to support, shops, pros, companies that I think rep skateboarding in a way I like but I do love the look of a graphicless board with a good stain. Ordered two GFB symmetrical footballs to set up with Lil Smokies.
