Wheels can vary so wildly in quality that IMO it is not worth any potential savings to deprive yourself of some good F4s that will last you a long time for a questionable and potentially lesser quality wheel.

Definitely not like the blank decks game where you can be assured that you’ve got something on par with your favorite deck brand just sans the graphic

To clarify, I bought a printing press I intend to modify for wheel printing for various reasons. Doesn’t necessarily have to be F4 urethane but good enough to hold up to the job and handle some abuse. So an upper mid tier brand equivalent is acceptable.

HLC has blanks that are a f4 knockoff.

So far HLC seems like my best option depending on price.
Creative was acquired by Mearthane awhile back. It was still being operated as Creative for a few years after the acquisition.

Newest Loophole wheels are HLC, right? Been curious.

No reason to buy low-quality wheels if you just want em blank. Use a blade as a scraper and you can blank a set of F4 or STF in ~5 minutes. I do it to all my wheels.

Got a box of samples and they were so-so, I got their steep twins and shovel nose boards, all felt medium concave. They don't do concave on their nose/tail so the board felt and sounded waterlogged when new. I know tail tap sound is the least scientific assessment of a deck's quality, but it didn't leave a good first impression.

No mention of blank wheels in here according to the search feature.
Any quality blank wheels out there by anyone’s experience?

HLC is about to launch their in-house poured wheels, no price yet. Didn't know they mass produced trucks either.

Had a look on SkateMenu (https://skatemenu.com/products/mosaic-shield-sq-54mm-99a-wheels-pack?_pos=8&_fid=ac3f29e27&_ss=c) HLC's D2C site and they have Mosiac wheels, anyone know if they're the new or old formula?

I hear they aren't bad wheels, F4 lite. HLC have been making their crazy YOW Meraki surfskate trucks for a few years now. They're super popular in the surfskate world. Crazy torsion spring truck. The back truck of their completes is a normal TKP skate truck. The trucks are well made, decent quality.

they definitely look the part, old jart wheels were snow white. i got sent a blank set at the end of 2023 when they were just starting to advertise their new formula to their wholesale account and the color is a match. they call the new formula "butter" (98a, those were the ones i got) and there also was a 99a wheel in the catalog that was new too but it had a different name i think. those are probably that.

Hopefully this will grow to a point where we can afford a proprietary urethane at some point. Still recycling the same stimulus check that was received at the end of the pandemic. Every time we pick up momentum we have manufacturing delays and end up without product and the profit seems to be lost in the tiny advertising budget of giving our riders products. If I can source a quality blank and master the at home printing process then printing to order would be the next move. I accept the fact that the skate industry is no place to make it rich but I like the opportunity to make something that will have its own identity and I’m really enjoying the process.

You guys are extremely helpful and I feel really grateful for the info thus far. Thanks all!

@Richard Skidder Ouro skate wheels, has blank whites on their site. The dude makes his wheels in his garage. They look really good. I can not speak for quality.

Thanks @TwisT
I have spoken with him before about printing but not about purchasing blanks. This is a great idea. That way two small companies could work together.

For us here in Australia, all people need is an ABN - business number - free to register - and $300 to order a box of boards - boards are $30 each for reference.

A number of people have even just got a very simple basic logo on them that is easy enough to scrape off, if all you did want was blanks anyway, or do your own graphics for very little extra.

Not that I am suggesting anyone and everyone start their own board brands, but if you got the good wood in the right shape, then how hard is it there in USA to get your own box of your own brand boards?  Not a worry if all you do is ride them yourself is it?

* But to be fair, I could see they would have been getting quite a bit of unwanted backlash from selling blanks direct to the public so I also understand changing it now to be just B2B for those and directing anyone who did want blanks to the nearest shop account.

** Also curious, anyone who did order boards, how many did you get at a time?

Gone since 1988.  I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

Usually, just the sales tax id so that they know you are a registered business in the district that you sell in, may require proof of a physical store location as well. If you don't already have a tax id, you will have a "Bond" fee which is a precentage of sales or estimated sales (if just starting up) to pay up front to the state.

My last SkateSamples batch was pretty f'd. One of the decks got extremely deep cracks that ran the length of the nose and tail that started from the bolt holes. The deck never got out of the 60-80F range the cracks randomly appeared and it sounded super dead.

Another one delammed on the tail after literally 1 sesh. I still skated it at the slappy spot for 2 sessions but you could eventually feel the kicks flexing and it creaked pretty bad.
