The fact not a single California skate vid features  Windowlicker by aphex makes me sad. Or donkey rhubarb, or boy and girl. Fuck it, why has no one used any tunes from venetian snares? There’s also a shit ton of electronic music artists from the eu that make some good ass tunes. I wanna see crazy music over sick footage, not the same suburban mid 90’s American punk rock track.

I was re-watching old PJ footage the other day and - while I still think his part in PLWHL is amazing - I wasn't that impressed by his post PLWHL footage, especially random clips from the Flip/és-era. He goes rather slow, he tic-tacs a lot and - compared to the creativity of his PLWHL part - he does a lot of the same flip tricks. Don't get me wrong, I still think he is and was an amazing skater, just not as good as I had in mind.

So yeah, I'll just say it: PJ Ladd's skating from the mid-2000s is overrated.

My homie bought some art from him a few weeks ago. Went to his place and chilled/chatted for a while. He's just a random who hit him up on the internet but he took the time to kick it with another Portland skater. I see him out pretty often and he's always cool. I was filming a friend bs flip a set a while back and he rolled up on a bike and provided the stoke needed for my boy to commit and land it. I am a fan for sure.

It's a shame that everyone wants to romanticize the mid-late 90s, yet leaves that old Blind team with Ronnie Creager, James Craig and Josh Kasper out of the discussion. They were arguably bigger than peak Shorties. I know people want to hate on Josh Kasper, but to me, he represented a sense of freedom and security that Americans lost on 9/11.

Also, I have never seen a truly good looking heelflip backside 180 in my life.

I don’t disagree at all but that WHL part was earth shattering when it came out, like jaws on the floor good. Just after the shock of him blowing up the way he did, living up to that part would be impossible

It’s true. I never tried them but I’m disappointed that the mind behind polar came up with something this boring. Admittedly simple is usually better for skate shoes but what I really appreciate about polar is their low key clothes that focus less on branding and outlandish stuff and more on materials, fit and fabrics. Now to be fair, last resort is still fairly new and they can still further their graphics and images but compare to what polar has done (their whole BLM graphics are soooo good for example) I feel somewhat let down.
