The thing about Andy is that he's genuine as fuck, has pretty damn good skate style when he wants to, and doesn't give a fuck about what's cool. Which is kinda cool.

Yeah he's a dork and does lame freestyle acts, but then rips tranny and shit with decent style. And he also fucked off and did his own thing in the Olympics. And out skates probably anyone with more than 10 posts on slap.

Doing the odd "influencer"shit with guys like braille is pretty hard to excuse though

This is the only legit reason I’ve seen to dislike him, and it certainly makes me like him less.  But I do dig his vibe in that he seems to just not give a fuck.  I’ve also become pretty big on trying to normalize wearing helmets lately, so that does bump him up a bit in my opinion.

That does bring me to one of my most unpopular opinions; I think helmets should be normalized for all types of skating so kids getting into skating will wear one.  I 100% didn’t wear one back when I started because it wasn’t cool and the pros didn’t wear one.

Honestly it's just sad that anything like this even needs to be a conversation. Peoples' skating should just speak for itself. I will never understand how people can see stuff like Andy, Ellis Frost, Killian Martin and not just be fucking blown away. Yeah I love raw street skating too like Evan Smith, Kyle Walker, etc but I can also appreciate other styles having grown up being stoked on Mullen flatground.

Therein lies your problem; you’ve listened to the guy talk.  I’ve watched like 5 videos with him, and the most he’s talked in them was trying to teach someone a trick.

As a rule, I don’t watch videos where pros talk substantially, especially if they’re younger.  I’m 31, I don’t have time to listen to that drivel.

I also avoid all Braille/Remive videos, which is where I assume he talks the most.

I loved Ellington’s shoe but that’s probably because I’ve always been a huge basketball fan and iverson specifically. It was a great use of influence from a basketball shoe as a skate shoe unlike the koston 3 which just was a Jordan without the durability of an actual Jordan.

I loved Ellington’s shoe but that’s probably because I’ve always been a huge basketball fan and iverson specifically. It was a great use of influence from a basketball shoe as a skate shoe unlike the koston 3 which just was a Jordan without the durability of an actual Jordan.

That being said I get why people wouldn’t like them.

I'm ignorant about professional sports outside of the Phillies, so that connection might be why. I've just always been kind of confused/surprised by how much people seems praise them.

I really thought the Phillies might make a run this year but that sweep by the diamondbacks makes me think they can't even win a first round series.

Either way, back to the shoes, I fully get why people didn't like them but as far as a skate shoe at that time, it was a great shoe. Toe cap was amazing but not as bulky as the Reynolds were at the time. It was a great in between tech/bulk shoe.

Ace is all internet hype. AF1s are garbage, classics are good but quality control is not and their kingpins are cheaply pressed.

Everyone has such a boner for aces right now and it’s very trendy to shit on Indy.

People on their high horse saying loose trucks save lives and indys don’t turn have never gone fast in their lives.

Try skating more than a curb with your wobbly ass trucks and tell me how life saving they are.

Indys are the best most consistent trucks hands down, and they turn like a dream too.

Does it need to be stated that 1" hardware is for use with riser pads? And Phillips drivers are just infinitely more common and accessible than Allen keys. And if you use them properly, neither Phillips nor Allen will strip.

Lol that's a pretty strong opinion about something that has no impact on anything.

Does it need to be stated that 1" hardware is for use with riser pads? And Phillips drivers are just infinitely more common and accessible than Allen keys. And if you use them properly, neither Phillips nor Allen will strip.

Phillips was literally designed to cam out at a certain torque before breaking the screw. It's a built-in safety feature skateboards don't need, as the wood will compress before you're likely to snap a screw. Makes more sense if they sold JIS hardware.
