100% agree! Brian Brown is incredible.

Thought Clint was the opener, though, no?
To be honest that whole vid is so good! I definitely think Emmanuel Guzmans part is the illest one but Brian Browns part and Clint Petersons are just a hair below in the ill-o-meter. Fuck Imma watch that one right now

Nah dawg. The Westgate part and the Reynolds part may be the most definitive example of first part/last part in any video.
[close]

But Leo is the real winner here let’s be honest
[close]

Agree. Leo had the best part.

Also: Dgar in mosaic is better than fist part. But both are bests in the video.

Incorrect. Best part goes to Pluhowski.

As for the topic at hand...

jamie thomas had last part. two songs...

I disagree with the premise of this question. First part is just as important as last part. It's just a different vibe. First part is usually a younger skater.

I agree. Plus, as you mentioned, last parts are often longer than openers. The first part is like an appetizer that leaves you wanting more; the last part can be more excessive. Second to last part and last part often have more in common than last part and first part.

Stefan Mosaic feels more like a last part than DG (even though both parts are great). Same goes for Reynolds and Herman in Baker3.

Brian had the opener.

Brian Brown’s style is something missed in modern skate footage.

I really miss seeing new footage from him, Igei, and Raymond Molinar.

Brian Brown was highly underrated IMO, anybody know what he’s been up to recently?

Cow, Cardiels opener with brotha lynch is untouchable.

The End, Rick McCrank rules and I don’t care to watch tony hawk. Just about that entire video is better than the ender.
I guess that was the first time I heard spazz too, so that rules.

Also a hot take here, guilty. I’ll always remember Brandon Turner’s opener over muskas closer.
Well I have like 9 Andy Anderson dated flight decks.

Brian did have opener, I was mistaken!

Clint had one of the more memorable parts for me from that video and the Jethro Tull song kicking his part off makes me think he was first up. But, I now remember that Brian walks up to the metal screen door looking for Clint AFTER his part finishes and then Clint spells his name out in buttons/coins or something. That beautiful tre flip up the curb in DTLA before a FS Lip on the Gold Rail stair to the metro (?) to open Clint's part - so good!
It's been a minute, need to rewatch that gem of a video!

Last I heard, he was still skating, just not in the limelight like other pros are. I saw someone's IG story awhile back where he was rolling around with some dudes. Also, he was working with Kenny Anderson on that cruiser wheel condom project/company-to-be thing.

I agree the first part is better than the last in Cow although that’s a shared part that also has Julien and BOB so you could say that AntiHero just liked to stack the beginning of their vids.

Bucky has last part in The End which was completely unmemorable compared to every single other part before it. His ender was stylish but the whole thing was filmed in a YMCA parking lot.

ill say the kid > svitak in label kills

Was going to say this one. Also, Ragdoll over Gilley in Black Out.

Bucky's really short ender part coming in right after Tony was a little odd, but don't hate on Bucky like that. His last trick was insane, can you name another skater who did a 720 to fakie on vert?

AVE > Danny Way in the DC Video. Last vestiges of the time when the last part would be vert/mega. Never again

Vincent > Guy part in PS
I’m a Guy fanboy but his pretty sweet part left me kinda like, idk I don’t want to say disappointed but yeah maybe that’s the word.

I know it's not the aim of the thread but I'd happily switch MJ's ender for Guy's part in fully flared and Guy's ender for MJ's part in Pretty Sweet. Bit of a hot take but I feel both the original enders are super forced, to the point they're not even condensed down into something watchable, just an amalgamation of shit no one wants to see or do again edited with tricks that should've made the cut.

I haven't actually watched Guy's FF part in a long time but it seemed more real and impactful. And MJ's part in PS is just actually cohesive and fitting.

No, koston part is a good as artos.
Also DG better than renaud.

Bon appetit (Nuske > Puig)
Puig is good but that part was kinda lame.

As many have said before, this Lucas take is objectively wrong. However, it reminded me that i have not watched that part in a while. So I did. And for that, thank you for this bad take. I will be singing Frank Zappa throughout the house tonight.

No way the part was lame, he of could do much better back then, I was expecting something in the likes of his section in the 411 58 cliche controlled chaos.
On the other hand his away days part is legendary, still fits perfect as first part, I don’t care for busenitz but only Gonz could have had the last part if not him.

I don't think the Bon Appetit is that far off from the 411. And Away Days is like 15 years later; I would fully expect him to skate really differently. That said, if you look at Bon Appetit, it captures a amazing skaters first part pretty well:  A little messy, really loose, and youthful exuberance. And that Zappa song. And that nollie fs flip in the first line.

I guess we're going to have to disagree on this one. As opposed to my joking "objective" comment above, different strokes.
