Brown Bomber for me too.

I was so stoked on my first day when I realised I could do all my usual tricks on it, since I usually skate 8.125 ^^
The extra landing room is so nice and I love the 159s on it.

AH Cards football
Crail Couch/Loveseat
Baker/Deathwish 9.1/9.25 football
AH Brown Bomber

Skated a couple Hockey popsicles recently and loved those as well, but there is something about a football shape.

Had the welcome Nibiru 8.88. Nice to cruise on but god damn I couldn’t get anything going with that 14.75 wheelbase. Always wanted to try the yung nibiru shape but it seems like Jordan is off and they haven’t made that shape in over a year or so...
Am actually on a Nibiru shape presently, matter-o’-fact.
Picked one up on sale when I realized they might stop running it.
Love the shape, but would take it in a 14.5 WB if I had my drothers.
Maybe try the Big Bunyip? It’s 8.5 w/ 14.5WB and a reduction in length by a hair, but otherwise similar, profile-wise.

I wanna play you in a game of SKATE for the right to continue talking shit on me… You think you got me?

I haven’t skated those baker footballs, but I am very interested in it. But, I haven’t seen them in stock anywhere those.
Well I have like 9 Andy Anderson dated flight decks.

It was very similar to the Crail Loveseat/Couch, but on BBS and different kicks (same tiny-ass WB that I thought I would hate but loved).

Haven't seen them since the summer, but I would cop another if they come around.

That’s the thing though, I just can’t handle the wheelbase it’s fucking me up so badly.  I got two loveseats for Hanukkah, and I’m on one right now and I’m fucking struggling. I ride my trucks jiggly loose and that short wheelbase makes it feel so unstable it’s almost i rideable.

For whatever reason, the WB doesn't bother me in spite of me being pretty tall. I always chalked it up to the fact that those boards are longer and with a lot of flat. I skate almost exclusively curbs and flat so idk if that has anything to do with it too.

How do they compare in concave to the BBS wood?  Much the same, as in more spoony kicks or are they closer to other generic kicks?

Gone since 1988.  I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

Pretty generic. Feels a lot like PS wood right out of the gate, but I'll await further testing before offering an opinion on durability.
Sure am enjoying the shape so far, though.

Thanks!  I jumped on a PS deck the other day and although it felt familiar (I rode them for years when Black Label was using them) it still feels more awkward to me than BBS, but that is just me.

All of those boards should be pretty much top tier in quality and how good they are to skate.

Went into the closet today to see what I had in there, wood wise, and realized that everything I presently have on back-up is a shaped 8.75". Seven of 'em!
All (except two) have the same 14.5" WB too. So much for variety for a while, I suppose.
Good problem to have though, since those seem to be my favorite dims of late, but still...

I think I will have to go looking, but there are a number of smaller shaped boards out there, maybe not regular stock, so more like limited numbers or special editions, but there are definitely some.

Are you meaning the slightly more squared off tails and pointed noses like some of the boards in pics above, or just anything that is not a popsicle?

There are a number of punk point shapes, egg or football shapes, then some others with more weird options within those size ranges I have seen and had before.

I really like the Prime S5 Handout shape. It’s 9.12 at the widest but rides more like an 8.5. Feels super light and has huge pop. Someone just posted one in the Setup Thread in the last day or two. If they hadn’t dried up mid-year when the drought hit, I’d probably be on another one right now. Great as a cruiser too.

This.

The only reason I started riding a Dane 1 was because the handout dried up.

Both shapes are wide but skate like 8.5, with a squared off tail. Great control on shove tricks. Can’t recommend both shapes enough.

Lou knows what's up. These are the best looking shapes. I will never shut up about Lovenskate's "football" shape. It's not like others footballs, more like the shaped boards in the above picture (no drastic taper and a squared off tail). And there made out of that good wood from @pennswood  8)

I’m running an AH Blue Meanie right now, set it up as a cruiser but it’s so fun I pull it out every couple of sessions. Super skateable, plenty of nose for flip tricks.

I also just set up a Dane 1 Jr and that board looks like a lot of fun but doesn’t quite work for me. Nose too narrow/pointy for my preference.

Have you ever rode a fucking Awesome, Quasi, or Polar I know Polar's got some neat shit are they all hype or pretty legit

I’ve never had a shaped Polar deck that wasn’t great. They aren’t all for me, and I’ve settled on the P9 as my current favorite (I think it’s gonna stay that way), but it’s not hype and it’s not a gimmick. They are offering something genuinely different and interesting with each shape.

I’m not usually a fan of shapes, but I decided to put a Cardiel huffer on my main setup. Took about half a session to get used to but I’m liking it now. I like how wide it is up front while still being nimble from the small tail. I do have to pay attention to my foot placement more than a popsicle though, it gets a little narrow towards the nose

Good:
Krooked Zig zagger: had about a year and a half-2 years where it's all I rode at all both with hard and soft wheels. Felt like it was good for most things, altho I def lost a bunch of nollie tricks because of the pointy nose.
Zero Garrett hill jester: this was a long while back so maybe id feel dif now but it's the only really tapered fish board I liked. Felt like I could Ollie really good on it.
Bad
Polar Aaron Herrington: soz don't know the proper name. It was maybe his first pro model I think 8.75 but super tapered. Had a square tail but felt like they cut cut the tip off a regular tail to make it square not extend out the corners on the template.

Boards I always think of getting but don't pull the trigger:
Madness 8.375, deedz 8.3 football, Cromer lil snuff, 5boro 8 inch cruiser

I recently set up a 5boro Shred Shape, mostly because I was curious about bigger/shaped boards, but I also wanted something that would be fun on the street or at the park.

Ended up leaning into the tiny wheelbase and bolting on some AF1 55s, switching between Loopholes and G-Slides depending on the terrain (both 56mm).

Best way I can describe it is like riding a bull. Highly recommend if you’re itching to try out something weird.

The only shaped board I have set up is a Tershy Couch and I don't find myself going back to it too often. I've had a Beach Bum for a year ready to go but I've never set it up. I saw one in the setups thread with some 33's, and I think it inspired me to go grab some ultra wide and tall wheels to throw on it. Most of the skating I do is ledges, manuals, and flat, and I just find the popsicles work way better for that. One thing about shaped boards is they seem to get beat up from primos etc. way easier.

Love: Klein Dream girl 8.5. Square tail, great shape and decent nose. Set it up as a cruiser with some Spitfire Soft-D wheels but ended up skating it as often as my "regular" set up.

Not a fan: Once the Dream girl felt a bit soggy switched to a Toy Machine shaped deck that was similar...but everything was off. Nose was a weird sharp taper and I never could get used to it so it's been dismantled and I'm thinking of tracking down one of those Polar shapes for the Spring (snowing and -20c today).

I had that Heroin Streetballer shape and that was the most fun shaped deck ever. I still don't understand why I liked it so much. It was a big square plank with a short nose, but for some reason it just felt amazing. It was also the only deck I ever really liked 169s on. I will probably try to turn my back-up set of 149s into a cruiser at some point and retire my 169s unless I can find a similar shape or unless Heroin drops more of that shape in the future.
