I bought the VM002s in suede and got them in 10.5 on the basis that some people say size down. For context: most Vans don't fit my mutant paddle foot, but I'm an 11 in old skools and Sk8 His. Otherwise I'm an 10.5 in Adidas and NB#. Did I goof on sizing or should I be okay?
You’ll be fine! I believe I am also an 11 in Old Skools - it’s been a minute since I’ve had a pair, but I’m almost certain I am an 11 in them. Anyway, 10.5 LRAB vm001 and vm002 are perfect for me. I’ve had the vm001 in canvas lo and canvas hi, and just scooped two pairs of the vm002 suedes on sale, both 10.5, and fit perfectly. When I tried these shoes on in 11, it was obvious they were too big for me. In total, I’ve had two canvas his and one canvas lo (vm001), and two suede (vm002).
When I first heard to size down with these, it sounded super wrong, specific to me, because I can’t remember the last time I had shoes smaller than size 11. Half-size down is the way to go! Enjoy!
Also, for anyone wondering about the durability of the canvas shoes, if you just use some Shoe Goo, they last a long time (for canvas, at least). I’ve made my canvas LRABs last at least three to 3.5 months. I honestly could have gotten more out of them, but just scoop new pairs while local shops still have them in stock.
