Useless trivial knowledge
« on: January 31, 2021, 10:22:27 AM »
Here’s a few to get it started

1. The reason Ghostface Killa covers his face in the video for da mystery of chessboxin is because he was on the run from the law

2. The hundred folds in a chefs hat represent the 100 ways to cook an egg.

3. Coconut water can be used as blood plasma in an emergency

4. Spinal fluid is sweet
Well I have like 9 Andy Anderson dated flight decks.

the "o" and "-" on a power switch show the circle as off  because the power is going in a circle ie, nowhere, and the line is showing the power going from point to point.

All the planets in the solar system can fit in between the earth and moon.

I thought this was fascinating, so I went to research it, and found this

“How far is it to the Moon? Well, the Moon’s orbit is an ellipse, so sometimes it’s closer than other times. At its closest (called perigee), it can be somewhat less than 357,000 kilometers between the Earth’s and Moon’s centers. That’s already smaller than the planets aligned, but it gets worse: You have to subtract the radius of the Earth and Moon, since the planets have to fit between them. The Earth and Moon’s radii combined is about 8,100 km, making the distance between them more like 348,000 km. The planets don’t fit.”

But do they fit when the moon's orbit is at maximum?

In USA at least, banana flavored things don’t taste much like banana because they don’t taste like the Cavendish banana, the one mostly available today. At the time the artificial flavor was made, the country ate sweeter Gros Michele bananas, but the crops were lost to a fungus and the more resilient Cavendish was adopted. The sweeter flavoring more akin to the Gros Michele was kept

I believe I found the same article, and the answer appears to be yes.

I made a shake with a couple extremely ripe bananas and honey and thought it tasted like banana candy. that makes sense now.

In Europe it is considered rude not to keep both hands (not the elbows) on the table while eating even if you don't use them. In America it's ok. Well that might be acutally useful so sorry for OT.

I've been reading The Outlaw Ocean by Ian Urbina, it's not about impressment per se since it's contemporary but there seem to be a lot of parallels. To be honest, I'm not familiar with press gangs whatsoever (a friend graced me with that factoid). I'm sure @freelancevagrant can enlighten us.
