Inverted kingpin

Delete if not allowed, but does anyone have a lead on inverted kingpins like the newer hex nut style Indy and krux are using?

The first one is the older style Krux kingpin, not the hex nut version. The second two on Amazon have the right kingpin, but it’s a whole truck lol. I just want the kingpin. Thanks though!

Replying to this thread just in case anyone else is in my boat. I found these. Might pull the trigger. https://www.nativeskatestore.co.uk/skateboards-c7/kingpins-c39/inverted-replacement-kingpins-black-p51891

Edit: found a second link. Shipping to the USA is crazy expensive. https://offsetskatesupply.co.uk/product/film-inverted-kingpin-set/

Sick! I've been on the hunt for that style of aftermarket kingpin for awhile too. Thanks for posting the link!

I’ve been searching for the last couple of hours. The shipping for these UK stores comes out to nearly 50 USD total. I’ll keep this thread posted with any updates! Film Trucks JUST replied to a message I sent on Insta so maybe they can help me get something set up stateside.

And another 15 probably to ship lol. I’d just get royals and hammer out the kingpins in that case lmao

i can't find any films with the inverted kingpin. in fact it seems like one of the shops that carried film took out all their inventory. hope this doesn't mean they are done for. i wanted to try them. if they came with inverted kingpins that would be even more incentive to try. but 20 bucks plus almost the same in shipping is stupid expensive just for a parts upgrade.

Just buy a Krux or Kreper kingpin which is better? If you want the inferior hex head kingpin take it off a set of Indy MiDs?

I was actually coming back in to make an update so it’s funny you mention this. NHS is going to be selling those new kingpins WITH a baseplate starting in March. Will probably still be sort of pricey but a lot easier to get this than buy a $50 set of trucks! I’d rather have a hex inverted kingpin because I always have a skate tool but don’t always have an Allen key!

In Ben Degros Indy MiD review he said the hex kingpin is sticky on grinds compared to a softer kingpin nut, I'd just stick with traditional trucks at that point if you are worried about losing the allen key.

That’s on Indy mids though. The hanger on Indy mids has less meat on it which is why he didn’t have the best clearance. If you put a 2” kingpin on some thunders, you’ll have plenty of clearance and, in theory, shouldn’t make too much contact.

Update again! I’m pretty positive I just found a US source for a hex nut inverted kingpin. I ordered a set so I will definitely check in when they come in.

The regular non hex krux ones are pretty good. I haven’t decided if it’s worth the effort of replacing, need more time on them. One thing I noticed that I never thought of is while yes a traditional kingpin drags, it provides stability during the grind, in my experience and specifically back smiths. Haven’t skated the hex ones but it makes sense to me they’d stick more if they are harder metal. Good luck. Let us know how it turns out.

Dude I am with you 100% haha. I was convinced the inverted pins would solve my problems. Obviously not, they help but come with their own set of cons as I mentioned above. Weird I only feel it on b/s smiths tho.

Looks good. After being disappointed to discover that both of the kingpins on my Ace 44 trucks were loose, I decided to switch over to Krux Downlow kingpins. I used a little JB Weld to epoxy the locknut to the bottom of the baseplate, allowed it to cure for a few days, ran a tap through it and the Krux kingpin installed easily. I like how they are setup, but I will say that someone who skates their Ace on the tighter side will probably find that they run out of threads before the whole thing can be cracked down. I imagine this could be fixed using a different 3/8"-24 panhead bolt with more threads

I actually bought a pair of Royals and took it off of them. Then I put regular kingpins in those and gave them to homie! So nothing was wasted lol.

The krux down lo was the best design I think.....

Someone posted this the other day

https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Tru-Lite-Titanium-Seat-Bolt-3-8-24-Thread-x-2-Inch,34338.html

Looks like it would drop in perfectly into the new threaded base plate....throw on some bones bushings...

crosspost with the indy stage 4 thread, sorry for reviving all of these dead thread folks. I put some Indy IKP baseplates onto some stage 4 hangers and bushing assemblies and I like how they turn so far. As far as I can tell, the only differences I can discern are that they're a little higher and there's more kingpin clearance. Also, does anyone else put teflon tape onto their IKP setups? I hate having to tighten my trucks back to how I like them every other session and I'm hoping this will reduce the occurrence of that issue.

Barrel bottom thunders are the worst feeling thunders you could possible have.
