Out of all skate companies, is a different truck company the hardest sell? Seems like people are stuck in their ways with the big 4 and won't try a new one as easily as you might with a different deck brand.
It's not that people won't try, some [of us] do, and report back that they were shit, so no reason in trying.
I think these days you have to bring something new to the table.
Theeve brought Ti to the truck market
ACE brought the best turning truck out
Krux had the Downlow Kingpin
Tensor went best grinding/lightest truck (then modified that with the ATGs)
You have to have a functioning gimmick in addition to turning well or having unique geo.
What does a new royal bring to the market, not to their brand? Most KP clearance compared to who? Rapid Forged construction (marketing)? A chunky inverted kingpin (if they follow their existing style). Sacred Geometry (marketing again) but is this new geo or just the same from current models?
The truck market already has enough variety to satisfy everyone, tho I think if Thunder made a longer baseplate more OCD folks would ride them...and if they somehow kept their geo and managed to lessen the wheel bite...
That all said, you know never, they could lower that inverted pin, hollows could be nice and lite, WB could be right between a Thunder and Indy and they could be a great turning, yet stable on center truck with a decent height and extended baseplate.
