Oh hell yeah, can’t wait to not buy those!

The royals I’ve had have been pretty good tbh. These look real decent.

They look like they went with a Thunder hanger and Theeve baseplate, odd choice. If they perform like a Thunder with an extended baseplate, I'd give them a try. Alas a man can dream....

Guy did some of his best skating on Royals. They can't be all bad.

There’s probably a bizarro Slap universe somewhere and everyone there says the big 3 are Krux, Royal, and Ruckus.

I dunno about that with Guy....if you said ventures I would have agreed with you.
Cory, KT, Wes, Jerry, Griffin. All killed it on royals.

Craig deserves all the hate, the products they put out, for so long, were of very bad quality. Didn’t stop me from buying 4 star jeans hoping

I honestly wouldn't mind trying these.

I had a pair of Royals before, and they were good at being okay. Didn't have any problems with slappys and whatnot. Turn could've been better. Thing is, for like $5-10 more you can just get Indy/Thunder/etc trucks.

Interesting to see that after all these years, they're finally adding kingpin clearance to the standard kingpin models, as the current models have the kingpin level with the hanger.

Out of all skate companies, is a different truck company the hardest sell?  Seems like people are stuck in their ways with the big 4 and won't try a new one as easily as you might with a different deck brand.

I wouldn’t mind trying them out tbh. I’ve never rode the older royals but a slightly higher thunder with an inverted kingpin sounds interesting.

Big 4? Since when, I'm guessing, the fourth one is Ace?

I’d try em but you gotta think about how much R&D and good engineering is needed to create a really nice truck, you can’t just hit up a truck factory like you can a board factory and start making trucks. There’s way more variation in trucks than any other skate product and they profoundly affect how a setup feels so you can’t really blame people for sticking to what they know.

That said I also don’t want to hear the usual “they’re made in China therefore they must suck” complaints because almost every truck is made in China already and there’s a whole thread dedicated to sucking Chinese made Ace’s dick. It’s the design of the truck that matters most, so if Royal is coming with a new design they at least deserve a shot in my book

Been that way for a while. Ace got a mad jump in followers when Indy moved production to China.

It's not that people won't try, some [of us] do, and report back that they were shit, so no reason in trying.

I think these days you have to bring something new to the table.

Theeve brought Ti to the truck market
ACE brought the best turning truck out
Krux had the Downlow Kingpin
Tensor went best grinding/lightest truck (then modified that with the ATGs)

You have to have a functioning gimmick in addition to turning well or having unique geo.

What does a new royal bring to the market, not to their brand? Most KP clearance compared to who? Rapid Forged construction (marketing)? A chunky inverted kingpin (if they follow their existing style). Sacred Geometry (marketing again) but is this new geo or just the same from current models?

The truck market already has enough variety to satisfy everyone, tho I think if Thunder made a longer baseplate more OCD folks would ride them...and if they somehow kept their geo and managed to lessen the wheel bite...

That all said, you know never, they could lower that inverted pin, hollows could be nice and lite, WB could be right between a Thunder and Indy and they could be a great turning, yet stable on center truck with a decent height and extended baseplate.

I’ve been around long enough to know that the folks posting in the truck threads about their “findings” are never the same folks in the “show me your axle” threads. Grain of salt and all that...

Yeah, I'm aware of that but there is no way in hell for Ace to be called "big" with their shit ass QC and lack of an 8.5" truck.

Their QC needs improvement for sure, but they're big now, no doubt about it.
