From personal experience, the only thing that was worse than my broken femur is my fucked up discs in my back.  Hopefully the newer technology available now makes recovery way faster for her.  She was always fun to watch.

Lizzie really rips, glad she's back. I'm not a mega-ramper, but it doesn't take a genius to see that you might want to have a net lava pit or something under that gap.

Have I landed in some strange alternate reality where Jason Ellis has some kind of cultural cache? I know I'm out of it, but is there some Jason Ellis-shaped hole in our society that needed filling?

that podcast was 3 things

Tony Hawk trying to get ahead of people blaming him or anyone he knows for the slam, in a very obvious fashion, probably the best part(s)

Both of them talking over Lizzy

That clip. Holy shit that slam is gnarly

Definitely building a lava gap at the diy next. DIY the hell out of it with dollar store vinegar and baking soda.

Does she mention what happened. Hit a rock or wheel  bite ? Its weird Almost looks Like she got pitched.

The thought of listening to the thing and jason Eli’s talking to try to find out makes me want to kill myself.

Kind of looks like her legs just gave out/was of balance. Like someone who has no business skating a mega ramp. I'm sure she can skate that thing so maybe she was just tired

Not sure, I don’t think she says it exactly, but the rundown seemed to indicate that she just froze due to inexperience on a megaramp.  She says she dropped in, got to the flat....”and my body said, like, no.”

She practiced on a big roll-in, but the slam-ramp was a drop-in.  Her 1st attempt, she said she was so focused on the launch at the end, she messed up the drop-in.  2nd attempt (slam) she nailed the drop-in but game over when she got to the flat.

Suprised. Being a vert skater and being on birdhouse figured she would’ve done a bunch mega stuff already.

Makes sense then.

Bob's is like a fifty foot drop down to a river, so it makes more sense, but it really is reckless to have no net or foam for a 20+ foot drop. This slam was kind of inevitable on that ramp with that set up, but Lizzy knew that they didn't put in the foam insert in that day, so it's not like she can really blame anyone. Could have just sat out that day or insisted they make it safer.

Anyway, it's crazy lucky she landed the way she did, I'm sure she got a concussion from just her brain bouncing around on impact, but her neck or spine could have easily been involved. I'm sure some Mega Ramp Safety Council will spring forth from this slam.

man, she must be very happy that the ragdoll nickname is already taken in the world of skateboarding

these slam clips are very educational, because I'd always think that having enough speed will let you clear the gap even if you fuck up very badly, but no so much apparently

I'm so happy that she ok because that looked really brutal for anyone to take.

I don't know how that could have happened, but it looks like how I felt pumping out of the corner of a bowl once after generating a lot of speed from the other walls. Gravity, momentum, and centrifugal force possibly just did weird stuff in conjunction resulting in my legs just crumpling under me which left me on the flat with a hipper and out for a few weeks.

Anyway, just a reminder that she is one of a short list of people to ever complete the loop and gnarly in general.

1. That was a super fucked slam
2. What the fuck is up with birdmans eyebrows
3. I actually watched this on break at work and did anyone else get the vibe at some parts that Tony was giving Ellis looks like “shut the fuck up” and trying to control the direction of her story way too much?

While either may work, did you mean respectfully or respectively?

This is the one that usually means game over for senior citizens, right? I really hope she can come back from this.

Yes, something crazy like 50% of seniors to fracture their "hip" aka pelvis or femur pass away within a year.  Really sad statistic, lot of them can't recover from it.

The pic with the screws is so gnarly, poor Liz.  I imagine if you skate the Mega you must sign a liability document in case of injury/death..

Pretty sure during the BTS of Heath you see Him signing a waiver before the attempts start.

Holy shit that slam was gnarly. Crazy actually seeing it on that Hawk Wolf vid. Had to skip around cause I didn't really need to lose and hour of my life to this but glad she's alright. Throw a net under that thing.

She sort of inadvertently did the “anti pump” on that.  As in, she bled off speed by sinking her upper body into to tranny. If she had stayed stiff she probably would have cleared the gap.

It could be the angle this was filmed from but it looks like this gap is more of a step-up than some other megas.

You guys never dropped in and went a little too much forwards? The only difference here is that the ramp will kill you if you're out of balance at the wrong time. And eve Grosso had a slam like that, only the launch was bigger(=less speed at the top) and there was a net under it.
