Realistically, if Griffin wants a shot at being pro should he even go back home? Feels like being in ths US would be his best shot at being big.

i feel like this trip is his only real shot at going to the next level sponsorwise. too bad he is wasting his time in shitty parks and with other youtubers rather than hitting up photogs and filmers and doing some real street shit.

Given the state of the industry (100s of board brands, independent contractor contracts, crap board royalties), going down the YT route could be a better long-term financial decision.

He can still use yet, but now is his best shot (so far) at getting some credible brand backing to boot

So which one of us is taking one for the team and sitting through all the cringe self-congratulatory Berra monologues tonight?

still hilarious to me that Steve chose to do this on Go Skateboarding Day

"hey kids, instead of celebrating Go Skateboarding Day by riding your skateboard, attending events, supporting your local skateshop/park, or anything meaningful, you should sit inside and download this fucking app so you can watch a weirdo Scientologist proselytize on the mic for a while before some guys skate flat for a bit"

low-hanging fruit at this point, i know, but the incredible levels of kookery are still astounding sometimes

he actually is pretty legit, although there is too much cumorama footage in here for me

For a message board that consumes so much skate media I have no idea how anyone here can watch this part and think he has any legitimate shot at skateboarding as a career. I'm genuinely confused by how many people have said that. Credit where credit is due he has a huge bag of flatground tricks, but that's literally it. Almost this entire part is flip tricks down 3 stairs. Flip trick on flat or up/down a curb then flip trick down a 3. I just re-watched this to make sure I wasn't insane. Other than flip tricks on flat or on very small sets of stairs he has pretty much nothing else.

First line is noseslide a ledge, back tail a ledge, impossible off a curb, heel flip up a curb, tre on flat, ollie a ledge, kickflip a 5 stair. Not a bad line and I think he did it well, but that's definitely not pro level skating. And that's not nitpicking and judging the whole part by the opening clip, I genuinely think that's the best clip in this part by far. Next clip halfcab heel off a ledge then back 3 kickflip down a 2 or 3 (the way it's filmed it's tough to tell).Next clip ollie up a ledge pressure flip off, then fs bigspin on flat. Next clip frontside flip up a two stair (I think?) then sw tre down the same thing. Next clip fs 50-50 impossible out on a ledge and then back lip on a ledge.

Another clip in here where he does a bad back smive-o on a bench, back 3 a little grate, nollie back heel on flat, and then sw ollie a 5 or 6. Impossible up a small ledge nollie late flip off of it? Of the clips that aren't solely flip tricks down 2-4 stairs or off a ledge, he does a regular crook then back tail kickflip on another. Nollie tre on flat and then a pretty bad kickflip crook on a bench. Bigflip on a slightly declined runup and then a rocketed sw heel down an 8? And after he landed it he's celebrating like he just did it down El Toro.

This is not skate for a check level skating, and not even close. I'm happy for him if he can make a living skate youtubing, but what legitimate company is going to put him on and pay him for these type of clips? Am I going insane? Have I completely lost it? I like low impact skating but this part is just not very good, and certainly not "why isn't this guy properly hooked up?" good.

I agree completely. He is what used to be referred to as a skatepark pro or more appropriately a flatground pro. He will likely never make it outside of a YouTube channel but he obviously doesnt have it in the streets, at least not in this part.

Sorry for the longwinded rant, that part was absolutely awful and I had to get that vent off my chest. That being said I have nothing against the guy personally, and honestly hope he wins the BATB. P-Rod would be cool to see win, but he's got enough money and the prize winnings could potentially be life changing (or at least year changing) to a guy like Jamie.

Just go to caffeine.tv its embedded on the front page.

Also it's not prerecorded, they're just switching back and forth between 2 cameras. They're not even changing the audio levels.

Yeah, after seeing that I thought he was done for. So far 360s seem to be his weakest trick.

Listening to Berra makes me want to kill myself. Dude is the most awkward, cringey, lame, unfunny homo sapien in the universe. Berrics might actually be tolerable if he just removed himself completely from the public eye.
