Ugh kinda on that boat, every time I try a new truck it just makes me wish that Venture V8s shrunk the wheelbase only by 1/8 per truck not over 1/4. Would never complain again.
[close]

yes, 1/8th would be nice, 1/4 is a lot.
[close]

Its technically more than 1/4 too. Its labelled 1/4 but I've had two sets now and both actually measured 5/16. Verified by my friend on his set too
[close]

Move one truck and turn brain off….
[close]

Brain is sadly way too on. Trying to optimize the pop feel of both my nose and tail and moving one truck in by 5/16 does not do that, overall wheelbase matters far less

I wouldn't say wheelbase matters far less but I'd put it so that you're less sensitive to it. That's why the V8 half inch adjustment might not be what you want but maybe it will unlock 15" wb boards and so on.

Used to think I was much more sensitive to wheelbase until recently got my measuring tape out. Turns out the 14.375 I thought was too long was actually 14.6. And the 14.25 I thought was my goldilocks wb was actually 14.3. Thought it was strange the 14.375 Palace felt so good so I had to check. Also, that one measures exactly as advertised, shout to DSM.. On the old Thunders.

I wouldn't recommend this to just anyone, but for people that know what they are doing, this might be a good way to bring in a baseplate just a little bit, eg a few mm.

Goddamn, I would not trust myself to do that on ventures lol. Glad it works tho. Its like the grind king lockers haha

Yeah I mean it's easier for me to adjust my tricks to a slight difference in axle to axle effective wheelbase as long as the kicks feel right. Hate when the kicks trucks interaction is off and the pop feels ass, even if the effective axle to axle is perfect

Thats interesting he thought the pop was heavier than indy hollows but lighter than indy standards. Definitely wasn't my experience. Thought it was significantly lighter than any Indy variant, and closer to ace, due to the further recessed wheelbase

Just set up the T2's ... won't get to skate them until tomorrow morning but after stepping on the board, I decided to immediately swap in bones hards.  My 54's were touching board with almost no pressure on it standing still.

Get harder Thunder bushings (97a or 100a). When I was messing around with my T2s, I put Bones hard in "just to see" what they were like (they are different sizes than Thunder bushings), and it made the turn/geometry feel super wonky/wrong, IMHO. But try for yourself...

Love the turn and the pop, would prefer a stiffer bushing but i am adjusting to the softer duro feeling.
Feel better than indy, less squirrely than ace. the bushings stiffened up a little today.
Just been park skating so far, streets this weekend.

^Thats odd. Normal Thunders usually don't have great clearance and these have noticeably more so I'm not sure how to square those measurements. I'll try get some pics vs some ventures soon

edit: looks like the tape is recessed further back on the second one. probably need to use a level and measure only from the highest point of the kingpin/nut, not the part thats closer to the hanger and not going to catch.

149 T2 skated twice vs new Venture 5.8 cast hollow. Both with stock bushings and washers, nut flush.

I ain't measuring shit but its pretty clear that its not too far off from Ventures, though definitely not quite there.

Don't have normal Thunders or Indys on hand, but I feel like its pretty safe to say there's noticeably more clearance than Thunders, and probably a little more than Indys. I also recall comparing my indys to my friends sample T2s months ago and remember thinking that the T2s looked like they have more clearance, though it was just a glance holding them in my hand, also not scientific at all.

Having skated them twice I also didn't find myself noticing any kingpin snag, which is something I've noticed on normal Thunders on the first sesh. It's something I'm pretty picky about (won't do ikp though), and I thought these were great in that department

I was never a big fan of how venture turns so this is looking good for me. I just always seem to tic tac tons on them. I have a weird stiff style so it helps when the trucks are more surfy

Thanks for the pics and stuff guys :) have a great weekend , I hope I get mine next week I heard the distributor in Vancouver has them ready to ship now

Noticed it when I had them in hand, but in that pic, damn that yoke overhang is fucking brutal.

Being the DLX fanboi that he is, I get the feeling that he didn't like them all that much.

Those trucks improve Ben's style IMO...

Personally, I feel it's the longer WB on that Krooked and an 'indy' style truck; he's tall with a wide stance and he's  always looked cramped/uncomfy, and borderline goofy riding short WB and Vents.

Yeah that yoke kinda crazy looking at it now, didnt notice it before. Would prevent bushing bulging though, not that thats an issue on modern trucks.

I remember riding Theeve trucks back in the day (egg on my face) and the bushings would always bulge wayyy out from the truck shit was a whole saga

Would anyone be a rockstar and please post or send the post link of all the bushing heights?

I just used Indy bushings and sanded down the top bushing to match thunder, but I think it was Ace that had closer dims?

Anyways… wanted to see that chart again if anyone could be so kind.

Please + thank you

My measurements:

Indy Top:  10mm
Indy Bottom:  13mm

Bones Top:  11mm
Bones Bottom:  13mm

T1/T2 Top:  9mm
T1/T2 Bottom:  14mm

EDIT: Dad Board seemed to show T-1 and T-2 bushings being different sizes. I have no explanation for that in relation to my observations.

So Thunder bushings are the same in both version... just a different bottom bushing shape?

It would seem so. I think if you scroll back on this thread, someone even said Thunder (via IG) even confirmed standard Thunder bushings could be used in T-2s.

He was likely comparing used vs new bushings. I worry about Dad Board... Looks like he's about to explode any minute. Hopefully he meditates...

Dad Board is the only YouTuber I care to watch or would want to skate with. I respect that he didn't take the Soletech, Warsaw, Powell, Slappy, and other promo flow tons of dudes are doing. I am disappointed that he's fallen into the flow trap of refusing to say a single negative thing about DLX products since he gets them for free now. His reviews used to be more honest and critical and now it seems like he's holding back. Will be interesting to see if he keeps the T2 in rotation or not.

Yeah, I'm guessing there have been more than 7 'stages' of Thunder.

I think maybe because it is not really a stage but a new and different truck.
