Who has the best T2 review? Ben D’s is just reading the spec sheet, saying they’re too heavy and talking about himself, Dad Board’s series dosent say anything conclusive and I can’t make it through a Downy video

-Not sure how they could be "too heavy" when they are pretty much the same weight as the original thunders, which are like ~30g lighter than everything else.

-The Wheelbase Push-In is the same as Ace Classic, which is super pushed in (2.75" compared to 3" on indy, and 3.25" on venture). so i feel like i need to skate a board with a super long wheelbase (14.5" for me) to make the pop feel normal.

-They turn a lot more than T1's do. I found T1s very tight for the first little while of riding them, where these felt really loose for the first couple days but then ended up in a really good spot for the following 4 months. they dont feel crazy loose like Lurpiv or Ace. I'd say it's closer to Indy for bushing feel.

-I would say when you do a crooked grind you dont have that same pinch of the old thunder which makes sense cause its designed different. it feels like you are pressing down more on the wood than on the truck if that makes any sense

overall: i really like mine if i have the right board paired with them. its not too hard to find a 14.5" wb on 8.5" but it probably is for the smaller sizes. if you have shorter legs you might really like these too, or if you just like super quick pop feel. they definitely arent heavy, and they turn way better than T1. they feel pretty unique.

let me know if you have any other questions

Yes I think you have it all there, taller height, shorter wheelbase, way more turn, etc being the main things I hear from any review and info posted about them.

I am still waiting for them to arrive here, but I have also heavily modified my own regular Thunders to mimic the feel of T-II trucks, so it will be interesting just to compare when I finally do get a set.

Gone since 1988.  I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

It looks like 8.5 T2s and 8.5 ace hollows both weigh 368g  once they drip a hollow kingpin or hollow axle T2 I’ll probably pull the trigger on T2. My legs and old body will thank me.

The things I’m mostly trying to understand is what the vibe of these trucks are. Like are they an Indy Stage 10 which I always saw as a one-size-fits-all? Or are they supposed to be gnarley Ace Classics with a more controlled turn? Or are the a tech skaters thing with a lighter pop from the closer wheelbase - stereotyping this one bc Thunders

Also I didn’t see much in terms of breakage issues so I’m assuming that durability is decent. Is kingpin clearance for smiths/feebles good enough?

If it’s a master-of-none kind of truck, I’ll probably just roll with some T1 IKPs once these Ventures bite the dust

Seriously? Come on, man. There have been enough reviews of these that, even including the lessers ones, by this point you should almost know •exactly• what to expect once you set them up. Their vibe has been clearly elucidated by many at this point…

for me personally, no, because I feel liek you need to have a very long wheelbase board to fit them, especially if you skate 8 or 8.25. that could be harder to find. I am about 6' tall.

I feel like it is combining the feel of ace classic and Stage 4 for geometry, but then has the lighter weight of thunders as well. they have added their own touch to the bushings too, it is a unique shape.

if you like ventures and T1s, I would not recommend this truck. I am probably going back to Indy's because there is a shape I really want to try out that Made in Canada that has 14.25" wb and I feel like Indy's would be way better for that. I should really try it on the T2s as well though just to prove it out.

I went back to my T-2’s after a few week stint on a bigger board and I’m on an 8.5 with mellow kicks, 14.25 wb and I couldn’t be happier. The pop feels great, the bushings really hardened up, I am usually an Indy aftermarket guy using the blue 92 bushings. They definitely don’t carve like Indy and ace especially in a tight space(just went back to skating in my garage and they struggle to make the tight cuts Indy did) but my pop is better than ever and the pinch is great.

Definitely turn more than t-1 or venture, less than ace or Indy. I have a bit more kingpin sticking up that I prefer but it’s not affecting me too much. The grind is good,  it quite Indy but still smooth. They seem harder than t-1 or venture which I assume is the same foundry?

I feel converted for the moment as I won a game of skate over the weekend against a group much younger than me, with minimal fuckery from me.

Dad Board dosent know what he’s talking about half the time and I can’t take seriously someone that spends over 15 minutes to land a flatground kickflip

T2s - I tried them briefly on a friends board who swapped the bushings out to regular Thunder ones. As others have said: light pop, more turn but not quite at an Indy level, pinch okay but not great and obviously more baseplate. I felt like they were like Slappy trucks where they’re solid all round but don’t have any defining features if that makes sense; IMO that’s why reviewers and posters have a hard time ELUcidating their feel. Different does not mean better though

all i can really say is they work pretty well for me, i prefer it to the original thunder and i could only use this truck from now on, it ticks just about every box for me, it is just a little harder to pair with the right board than an indy (maybe?)

I’d give Dad a five out of five DeGros stars in the Thoroughness and Informative reviews rating scale.

I’ll forever have him to thank for his review being the deciding factor in buying x97’s.

I came from skating pretty much only Ace classic 55s on 9ish decks. I had to size down because I really wanted to try the T-2s. I only skate curbs and minimal flip tricks and shoves anyway. I’m over a month in, on my second deck, and I love the t2. The weight difference is noticeable and awesome, the pop wasn’t too different than the classics for me. The grind is fine, I’m actually pinching my crooked grinds longer and better than I can on the 55s. My other setups feel slow and sluggish compared to the t2. Anyone know when the bigger sizes are coming out? It’s harder to find fun shapes under 8.75 with 14.25-14.3 WB.

I need to acknowledge how fucking cold and on point this reply  is from @Sedition !!

👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Also, if anyone hasn't watched any Dad Board footage, he represents an age/skill demographic of many here on Slap.  He and Ben D are regular dudes out there actually skating their gear like how many of us do. They show clips to back up their opinions on quality of gear. Do you have to accept it? No. Is it a valuable resource to explore? Absolutely!

I haven't seen many, if any mismeasurements from Dad Board, barring any cases where he corrected himself when he shared wrong info. Something Ben D has also done over the years.

The T2 151 - 8.75 size is due out this current drop / catalog, so I am guessing some places would have them sooner than others, which is always the way, but most places should have them within a week or so, depending on when their orders go out more than anything.

I searched and can't see many, but a few places have them up now, eg:

https://bluetilesc.com/products/thunder-trucks-t-ii-polished-151-set-of-two

https://tgmskateboards.com/products/thunder-skateboard-trucks-t-ii-polished-151-8-75-silver

* If you have a local store, check with them to see when they are getting them, cause some places might not even put them online.

Right on thanks for that. I thought someone here said this drop. Last week I was at bills wheels in Santa Cruz and was told no bigger ones this drop. But maybe they just didn’t order them. They had black 149s tho.

151 T2s showing up in more shops... They were only sent out last week after all.

Waiting for my local to get a pair, though.
