Only puts more money back into skating... I always hate seeing the kid in a fox moto racing hat, monster in hand wearing a big DC shirt with a pair of destroyed vans Chukkas dressing & acting like they skate, but they are putting money back into an industry we all support aswell...... [close]it’s true of any leisure industry- the people that sink the most money into goods are the people who are usually the least involved. bike shops sell 5 thousand dollar carbon fiber joints to people who think that’s what you need to be a cyclist the same way a shop will sell a complete, kicks and a full set of pads to me

They normally sell the soft goods and whatever else for the non skaters to be able to buy into the skateboarding "vibe or lifestyle".... it's like people getting mad at element & flip for making & selling those shitty shop completes when they're literally just a stepping stones for people that dont have access to/cant afford a PRO set up... Can't get upset at some fools for supporting an industry I love lol...

Superliminial advertising: Hey you ride a skateboard!
OP here... I can totally appreciate the radness of the photos on these billboards and I believe some posters have some very valid points about stuff like this brings $$$ to the industry we love to keep it viable for shops and athletes.I guess the issue I have is more like when you've been following your favorite band since they were playing parties and bars and then they blow up. Now your favorite band is everyone's favorite band. Now they're playing arenas and college radio has their newest single in heavy rotation. Something that was so personal and special to you feels sold-out.I don't take these things too much to heart and I don't think it makes much difference though and everyone has their own take on it. Anyways... rad photos on those billboards and the Scott Oster one is f**kin awesome.
These to be somewhere on La Brea and Third. Sunset and Silver Lake Bvld. Fairfax?
i like the tiny headed bear who says nice stuff to everyone.
"The bands are good til' they make enough cash to eat food, and get a pad. Then they've "sold out" and their music's "cliche" - cause' talent's exclusive to bands without pay."
Are there any skate shops out that way? I’m pretty sure the nearest ones now are either Active in Redlands or Rhythm in Palm Springs, not going to include the zumiez in cabazon.I miss the Agency board shop in Yucaipa.
I'm honestly curious if the photographers get paid for their work on a billboard? And even further if the skaters do. I hope everyone presented on those billboards is getting some Monster cash and not just a box of tees and sweatshirts.I hope to see Thrasher doing its thing forever.
