Reinvented tricks?

Every now and then someone adds a new twist to an old trick, opening a new perspective on it. I am thinking of for instance Ronnie Sandoval's tailboned fs inverts that look like sad plants:



Or Mami Tezuka's fs smith grinds with the back knee and foot twisted to the side:
 


Or Jimmie Wilkins' not only taking vert ollies to new heights (head-high ollie 540ffs), but doing bs ollies with the knee (almost) touching the grip:



Anyone can think of others to add something new and stylish to an old trick?

Dylan turned the impossible from a glorified pressure flip into a functional trick that can be done almost as high as an ollie over things/ controlled into other tricks.
Ed Templeton also reinvented it back in the early 90s and he even had a trick tip on the early 00s outright saying you can't really pop it its just good to do off bumps or hips etc

Kevin terpening made the step hop actually work as a functional thing to do.

I forgot the part but I saw some shit on thrasher where a dude skaters like grocery store parking lot stuff and in it he did a pop shuv but wrapped it like an impossible, looked pretty cool and I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before

At least someone here knows their shit. All of these dudes got inspiration from people who did it 30+ years ago. Doesn’t make it any less sick though.

This was way back, but I remember Bryan Herman doing a hardflip that looked like a combination of a fs shove and kickflip in this is skateboarding, at a time when most people weren’t doing them like that. Felt like he ushered in a wave of new hardflips.

I might be wrong, but I think Ellington reinvented pressure flips by taking them down big stairs like Hollywood high.

Nollie 360 flips weren’t popular for a long time, then they became more in vogue…maybe it was Biebel who started popping them higher and down bigger stairs?

Kyota may be reinventing Willy grinds…

I distinctly remember what was probably Herman’s first interview in Thrasher (the issue with his kickflip on the cover) they captioned a hardflip of his as an “inward kickflip.” Still the only time I’ve seen that, and goes to show how different his approach was.

mason silva has his own way of doing hardflips too kinda id say with the feet tucked like that

Love ray barbee but he is like the Templeton to the impossible. A vital step along the way that also reinvented it from those before him but I wouldn't cross out terps name. He does it over benches onto Manny's on tables etc.


Did satva Leung mean to do his switch frontside flips like that? Not just you can't really tell if it flipped but on some you can't even tell if it left his feet or not.(welcome to hell)

I feel Carroll's contribution to this is often slept on. His one in the opening line in Modus is in the style of how Herman did them but was a couple of years before Herman was filmed/documented doing them (and Herman did them down bigger things which helped).
