Penny. He got robbed of his opus magnum because he injured his ankle jumping around on those boulders. Such a pity.

Every part of theirs are incredible but they are so good/consistent that essentially every part is just a timepiece checking in where they're at at that time.

conversely, Heath had at least 2

This current gen of all timers are pumping so many parts that it makes me think that a majority of the previous gen that are currently in that 30-40 year bracket could’ve done so much more (Spanky, Luan, Alex Olson, etc etc) Expectations and pace are just different now.

But things are changing and skaters are putting out great parts later in their careers too, so too early to tell for many

Videos are so frequent and the demands on a skater are so different now that it's difficult to compare to even 10 years ago. Someone like Grant Taylor is expected to put out several parts per year, along with Instagram footage. If he had been at his prime in ~05-10, he likely would have spent several years piecing together some of the most amazing skating any of us have ever seen and those 5-7 minutes would have been a mind-blowing part in an Anti-Hero video we would all remember by name.

It doesn't mean that there won't be epic parts, since we've obviously seen some mind blowing ones this year, but I think the era of the career-defining part is more or less over for a lot of big name pros. I hope I am wrong, though.

That said, I think Gravette is a GOAT talent who never got a career-defining part.

Maybe not proper goats but just people I personally really love right now but I feel like K. Rod and Hjalte both have good parts and good moments in shorter vids (K. Rod in Dancing on Thin Ice comes to mind) but neither of them has THE part that I feel like they could

Def gonna say Zered here. He’s so insanely good but I don’t feel like everything he can do has been captured in a video part. His Instagram posts are nothing short of amazing… every one of them, I enjoy those more than most of the parts that’s been put out. Plus most of the parts are edited to shitty music. Minus that Dino J song from outliers.

vicious cycle is probably one of the most "magnum opus" type parts from that time period

I feel like Herman could have outdone his Baker3 part

His Stay Gold part flys under the radar because it was divided into 2 parts. If it was edited together as one part with all of the table lines mixed in with the rest of the footage, then I think it would hit a little harder.

I could be wrong though.

Agreed. Some very talented skaters in here but personal favorites and GOATS are not the same. The Eric Fletch dick riding is getting annoying at this point. Great potential and flashes of flashes of legend but a Fletcher and a Twuan for example or a Bryan Herman are different beasts. Herman redefined hardflips and then did it over the Barcy 5 block and that shit was like 3rd try or whatever. This is after the man massacred his leg in the dirt bike accident. There's levels we really have to consider here. Like what's the impact somebody made and then never had a true primed part that they bared their soul on.

“ The Eric Fletch dick riding is getting annoying at this point.”

He was that good though and it never really came out. Imo exactly the point of OP question.

There was a clip of him on habitat that I can’t find… blah blah blah and he kf a gap. I’ll try to find it and post it.

He was that good. Watch the 07 Etnies stuff with Malto and Mikey Taylor.

He got flowed by Girl, rode for Flip and Habitat.
That’s right there is a testament to how good he was.

Zered is a great answer. So many crazy clips in montages or obscure NY coverage. Seems like he should be in the conversation but usually isnt.

Going to take some heat but I think Franky Villani is one of the most capable and naturally talented skateboarders ever but his parts are usually filmed in short spurts. Which is sick tbh I like the way he does it. But it means he has a mix of having fun and insane shit in a part and I think that doesnt always demonstrate how good he really is.

Lastly maybe Bryan Herman. Fucked up good in his prime. Dont even really fuck with him but have heard stories about him at demos and about how he films parts, I think he might just need to put in like 75% effort and still be a killer

Would love to see Kevin Bradley put in the same effort in a part that Westgate did for Made.

Tim O'Connor is a great answer, the small amount of footage hes put out is of the highest quality.

Even though his Since Day One part is solid gold i'll say Dennis Businetz. One of the greatest ever but not sure if it was ever showcased completely in one part.

For real though. Timmy O footage is top notch.

I feel like Busenitz has had the footage, but the music was always a little off. Didn’t Quarter snacks re edit his Adidas part into something doper? (Googles)

I'd throw Rodrigo TX in there. He's so good and has put out a crazy amount of footage over his career, but his parts always feel like a shitload of clips just thrown together rather than a thought out video part. They're a bit all over the place sometimes.

Luan is insane but his skill's never really translated to street parts for some reason

If Antonio Durao goes his whole career without putting out a career defining part I'll be sad. He's one of the best around, someone needs to hook him up and showcase him properly

The companies started taking all the foam out the shoes tongue and collar but the designs were still chodey plus you were still a dork if you laced and tied your shoes properly. Really not ideal.

Doesn't need to be a magnum opus but id like to see another Luan street part.
Another part? Luan has never done a real street part. The biggest waste of talent ever. I guess the contest stuff pays enough or he just didnt have that confidence to take gis shit to the streets: as much as nyjah bothers me he steps to real shit as does shane oneill and so many others
