This current gen of all timers are pumping so many parts that it makes me think that a majority of the previous gen that are currently in that 30-40 year bracket could’ve done so much more (Spanky, Luan, Alex Olson, etc etc) Expectations and pace are just different now.
But things are changing and skaters are putting out great parts later in their careers too, so too early to tell for many
Videos are so frequent and the demands on a skater are so different now that it's difficult to compare to even 10 years ago. Someone like Grant Taylor is expected to put out several parts per year, along with Instagram footage. If he had been at his prime in ~05-10, he likely would have spent several years piecing together some of the most amazing skating any of us have ever seen and those 5-7 minutes would have been a mind-blowing part in an Anti-Hero video we would all remember by name.
It doesn't mean that there won't be epic parts, since we've obviously seen some mind blowing ones this year, but I think the era of the career-defining part is more or less over for a lot of big name pros. I hope I am wrong, though.
That said, I think Gravette is a GOAT talent who never got a career-defining part.
