They’re all better than me so I don’t really care.
Well I have like 9 Andy Anderson dated flight decks.

This guy and it never mattered..I think I mixed up skill with trick selection

Donger did stuff 25 years ago that few people could do today (last kickflip!) with amazing style and the guts do to his own thing 100 percent. Plus very few people had decent pop back then. That part is absolutely timeless.

Time period wise, that era is the place to look though I think.  Seems to me like if you had a white tee, blue jeans, a company owned by your buddies and some half decent tailslides and crooks and you might have stood a decent chance of turning pro in 96/97.

What do you guys think, in what era was it easiest to become a pro?

80’s street pro. Just watch Streetstyle In Tempe or Savanna Slamma.

No way. There was only a handful of companies and only a few street pros. So I’d say it was probably one of hardest times to go pro. Check out the old catalogues from the 80s, and there’s not that many pro boards. And skating those tanks was way harder than it looked. Fast forward to the 90s/411 era and there’s crazy amount of pro boards.

Besides, 80s street is mesmerising cos you really don’t know they’ll do, genuinely creative and bizarre - kinda sick. How tall is Lucero? That handstand was crazy.

This era – start your own board brand, market it to YouTube kids, call yourself pro, sell boards make money.

I’m kinda with THIS.^^^
That is to say, in the past you had to get “the nod” from somebody with the say-so/authority to do so.
Anymore these days, you can just make your own dang self pro, the rest of the industry be darned.
See: motherskate/skatepunanny.

I wanna play you in a game of SKATE for the right to continue talking shit on me… You think you got me?

I'll argue that while "motherskate" is far from pro status, she earned her way onto MEOW and is constantly trying to push her skating while getting IG clips.

Her sister on the other hand? Nope. Totally the type to Revival/Bryte it.

Donger should not be in this thread. He's still got pop at almost 50 years old.

Nobody cares how good you are... All that matters today is the amount of flame and praying-hand emojis people comment on your insta-edit

Ended this thread quick with the absolute correct response.

David Loy is garbage and is a Nyjah lackey. Anecdotally, he was always a dick when he'd be at the Vans park in Orange.

elise hedge. they are sponsored by converse cons, kyota umeki’s star team, and labor skateshop. they. act like hot shit. one time i saw them at substance they said hi and bye to me passive aggressively like im annoying the shit outta them. one day theyre probably gonna smack someone just by saying their name. like “LET ME SKATE” *smack* i swear every time someone approaches them they think theyre hitting on them every time like “i have a bf” like no one asked smfh.
they work at labor skateshop in chinatown ny and theyre probably not gonna get better at skating if theyre gonna keep acting hollywood cause acting famous when not being already out there wont get them anywhere. just cause you have a best friend in supreme and got bill to film you doesnt mean you gotta act like this biggest celebrity on the planet. letting yourself get annoyed by people that just wanna be your friend. being autistic doesnt give them a right to be a dick either.

probably cause you’re annoying as shit kid

Gareth Stehr. In his best days he was a dude that just jumped down or rolled off some gaps while wearing a scarf. Foundation must've gotten a tax break for sponsoring guys like him and Justin Roy.
