It was broken before NikeSB entered. DVS/Lakai under Platinum (surfers and Tim Gavin) wasn't freestylers and prior to that DC (Damon Way and Ken Block).

I get skateboarding has always had some edgelord stuff to their graphics. But, I would have thought anyone who lived in the Bay Area would realize how dumb an idea this actually is. Not just for the company, but for the idiot kid who bought it and might be spotted (potentially not even realizing its significance at the time of purchase).

The whole Van Wastell situation was handled very poorly by all involved. Locking someone who is gripped with addiction into a room, with only one way out...I get there were all young, except maybe Jamie Hart, and probably had no experience in dealing with anything like that before, but this all could've played out very differently and Van could still be here today.

Wasn't Ave on that trip and sober by then. I believe there is a photo of him on that trip with Van in Berlin. Either way a terrible result, and who knows who did what, what exactly happened, and what would have happened given the seriousness of opioid addiction.
