I’ve seen him at some North County skateparks and he is definitely a dude you do not want to collide into. He will win every single time. Really nice guy, great switch game, but for sure could still beat some ass if warranted.

OK they were born in the southern part of the United States so if they need to fly a flag there is dumb one with the same ass colors they can use. The Confederate or "Rebel' flag is the flag they flew when they waged a war to continue to enslave people. And they fucking lost. They lost then and they would lose now. It's just a little piece of poop at the end to let you know how they really feel because coded messages were all they had left. Anyone flying it for any other reason is a self deluded asshole. It really only means one thing.

This conversation always devolves into, "it's not hate, it's heritage", followed by the states rights argument. "States rights to do what"... "uhhhhhhh... you know stuff"

Anyone arguing for the display of the Confederate flag should do themselves the due diligence and read the articles of secession by each Confederate state as well as the Declarations of Causes by Texas, Mississippi, Georgia and South Carolina. First of all, the confederate battle flag was a symbol for an institution that whole heartedly believed in white supremacy, going as far as starting a war over it… there’s been quite a few other symbols associated with white supremacist institutions that are never questioned.

No one should be proud of where they are from, it’s ignorant as all fuck and a tactic used to sow division.

Here’s a few other fun tidbits for you, after the fall of the third reich, all symbols related to the national socialist workers party (nazi party) were fucking banned. So, as a way of being able to self identify was a neonazi, European white supremacists started using the confederate battle flag. Meaning that they recognize that this was a symbol of hate and inline with the same views that they held.

Also, after losing the war, the confederates fled to South America. Ironically, they were able to establish white ethnic enclaves in Brazil and Argentina. And it’s gotta be some wild coincidence that is exactly where the nazis fled too?

And of course you can be proud of your location, it is one of the main things that will dictate your whole culture, pride doesn't mean you're gonna turn into a fascist tomorrow, it just means you appreciate the influence your surroundings had in you, an extension of self-esteem you could say. To draw a parallel imagine your pride in being a skater and all the situations it has put your through, same thing you just didn't choose it.

that’s the thing though and that’s why i always thought that patriotism and nationalism were sketchy - the fact that you were born where you were born is a total accident and people who are proud of their birthplace usually don’t have anything else to be proud of. it’s literally the same thing as being proud about being white or some shit like that and often leads to xenophobia
