They’ll all probably still just skate Swiss anyway.

I saw them on Instagram with this team a few weeks ago. Their bearings are pretty much the best in the world for a lot of commercial purposes. They had a short skate stint about 20 years ago. They’re quality.

Yes! If there’s a brand that can make a better bearing than Bones Swiss is SKF. They are over 100 years in the business and known for their quality and innovation on that field. I think their first endeavour in skateboarding tanked because there was no real plan behind it, if this time they get things right and do cool things with the team I think people might be down to try them out…

I always wanted to try some skf energy efficient bearings but always ended buying something else. Skf are still sold here and there and got some good Reviews. I mean they are industry bearings so probably better than some andale, Cortina, etc

Also, skf did freestyle skateboards in the 70s

Same goes for that little Orange County based sneaker company she rides for.

That's cool.

Any time I need bearings for a project I always check in with SKF first. For industrial, agricultural, automotive etc etc they are best in class.

do these have plastic cages? most of the metal shielded bearings i've seen had metal cages that broke almost immediately

i want FAG bearings
i want them $17,000 bearings

https://www.qualitybearingsonline.com/7256-b-mp-ua-fag-single-row-angular-contact-280x500x80mm/?setCurrencyId=4&gclid=Cj0KCQiAjJOQBhCkARIsAEKMtO1c-VZHxkU_mfx2T5XrpxjbxFF29ms-cJw9R6xPk2Z18-Tj_rRD9wUaAjoVEALw_wcB

yeah you see SKF FAG Schaeffler all over the place in Germany. Hell even see it in CAnada quite a bit.

bearings in a skateboard do not make mcuh of a difference.  to all those guys who are die hard swiss... if you want FACT the world record for speed was set on $20 Zealous bearings. All that shit is over priced. the only advantage to ceramics/swiss is they break in faster.

Metal cages are primarily used in high heat applications, for skating they’re not practical. Metal cages also aren’t malleable like polymer cages. You could mitigate the breakage factor by setting proper preload, but it’s a shitty solution due to the low manufacturing tolerances of wheels/truck axels. Without lubricant, metal cages will  scrap or grab the ball bearings causing the bearing to skid on the races, ruining the polished surfaces. Best to just buy bearings with polymer cages.

Edit: just realized I didn’t answer your question and someone else did. My bad!

No one here is talking about setting any speed records, I fail to see how that's relevant. Bones Swiss bearings are made of higher quality materials which, with care, will outlast other less expensive bearings.

And yeah, SKF is basically the best bearing maker in the world. If they're priced comparable to Swiss, I'd happily take a chance on a pair.
This is not my SOTY. I'm telling my kids there was no SOTY for 2021

My dad used to work for a company that only used skf in their machinery.

The boss was cool and gave my dad boxes, and boxes, and boxes with bearings for me to use.

Loved them!!!!

Their skate bearings are pretty top notch as far as speed & durability go.
Never mind all that nonsense, though: that clunky looking logo they’re still using is my favorite in the bearing game.
Shit looks hella dated. I like that.
Will gladly give them a try if I run across they in one of my locals.

I wanna play you in a game of SKATE for the right to continue talking shit on me.  You think you got me?

SKF is THE company that got filthy rich by selling ball bearings to nazis before and during ww2. Every tank, weapon system, airplane, the trains that took jews to concentration camps - EVERYTHING with rotating parts or wheels - the nazis had was rolling exclusively on swedish SKF bearings.

That's how the swedes got where they are today. Sad but true :)

Edit: So for anyone who has a problem with indy's iron cross: SKF is the real deal XDDD
