Can someone explain the history of Metal? Was it a brand before? I thought Decades of Destruction was an XYZ clothing video. And who is Lou Metal?

I'm personally looking forward to this company more than any recently announced new board co.

Here is an interview with Lou Metal talking about the history of Metal.

Just difference of opinion. (I know I'm gonna be alone here) just taking other people's characters/art isn't sick or dope. It's lazy and looks like something you'd get from Kmart. But the 90s was a different time I guess.

As a hip hop producer who mainly just samples prior musical works (completely in the face of copyright law) for my beats, I can't look down on this sort of appropriation. Just like I can't find fault in any producer who discovers a break and mines it for use in hip hop for the first time (i.e. no one has ever rapped over it before), I think selecting an existing piece of artwork and placing the image on the bottom of a board for the first time, highlighting it's significance to the board creator (and, hopefully the current public at large), is fair game, if not very, very cool.

But I respect your opinion.

ummm jart simpson would like a word with you

but i fail to see how another illustrator putting their own spin on a character is wrong, that’s been a part of fandom forever and logo flips and parodies are tradition in skateboard graphics. it’s not like they literally jacked a swamp thing cover and put it on a skateboard.
that other poster was right to liken it to sampling.

edit: not to say i don’t see where you’re coming from, i think there is a gray area and a right way and wrong way to go about re-appropriating/sampling/parodying etc. one example that comes to mind that was absolutely wack and shitty was bronze56k ripping off that animation from world4jack.

Am I crazy or is his name Bianco? was that just on video typo? I think its the only time I've seen his name so I'm going to assume they got it right on his board..
Right? I scrolled by this deck like 50 times in the last day and read it in my head "Bianco" every time. Wasnt until I saw this post that I actually read the text. Some real Berenstain Bears type stuff considering the majority of skaters who know the name know it from that one video (no diss to the man)

Yeah I mean I'm not going to argue it. My nerd alert was me saying I know I'm taking the nerd stance on this. I prob jumped the gun because I assumed they did literally just take a cool swamp thing image and put it on a board. I dislike 99.99% of stuff like that and I'd say the difference with sampling is you're making something almost completely new. It's all case by case tho I think there was a 917 with foghorn leghorn but changed enough so it's different from the original artist would of done. Now that should be the case for whatever that jart shit is but it's not that also just fucking sucks too lol. Shorty's had a Southpark bootleg series=absolute worst. They had a series of breakfast cereals = best thing they ever done. Case by case.

My buddy made a deck out of 20 gauge sheet metal and the thing is a behemoth. Weighs like 20 pounds, you have no chance of doing any trick on it and you better hope you’re up to date on your tetanus shots if it clips your shins or ankles. Shit flies down hills though.
