First time I ever went to LA in 2002, the first spot my friend took me to was Villa Parke ledges in Pasadena, it was like 10:30/11:00 in the morning and SAD was over by the swing set doing push ups with no shirt on. He did not have a board.

I thought maybe I had dreamed this or made it up but I just texted my friend to confirm.

I was there when Sad did the FS tailslide on thr big ledge at Venice. I'd never even seen him try to skate it before, but on that day, he got the tailslide easily. He did it more than once.

Actually, the only other person who I ever saw try to skate it was Mike Carrol and he couldn't get a backside noseslide on it.

Vincent Alvarez also came on the scene blowing everybody’s minds the year DC threw a King of LA contest, while working in a McDonald’s meatpacking plant, with no cell phone so TM’s were blowing up his  friends phone on his behalf, and he didn’t get back to Sam Smyth for an entire year.. He wasn’t thirstin for a spotlight, he works hard for what he has and still loves to skateboard despite a semi-debilitating injury.

You don’t have to like his footage to know he is nothing like Beatrice.

Damn that’s an amazing come up. Never knew too much about him. Does he talk about this on the 9 club or a certain interview? Wouldn’t mind catching up on his story.

I don't watch that much womans skating but I always enjoy Elisa Steamer, Alexis Sablone and Reyes. They are all icons for me. I don't get the hype regarding that woman on Girl skateboards. But i don't hate on it, but it is a different ballgame then men's skating for sure and that's totally fine.

The interview was in an issue of The Skateboard Mag around ‘08-‘10, where he talked about working at a Tyson (?) meatpacking plant and how he got hooked up by Crail.
